The incomparable John Lee Hooker, IMO second only to the great Muddy Waters. Best live show I ever saw was John Lee, Mike Bloomfield, Paul Butterfield and Elvin Bishop at the Civic Auditorium in Hololulu, 1971.

It was shortly after the Butterfield Blues band had broken up and Mike Bloomfield and Elvin Bishop had left and formed their own bands. Bishop opened, followed by Bloomfield, then Butterfield. Then came John Lee, backed by Bishops band. The show started at 9 p.m. and they were still playing at 2 a.m. when they turned up the house lights to encourage people to leave. By that time all 3 bands were on stage jamming with John Lee. They finally cut off power to the stage. They lined everyone up and sang an acapella version of 'So Fine'. They turned power back on to the stage and they jammed till 3:30 a.m. I saw John Lee again about 20 years later and he will still rocking just as hard.

Pulled up to the water hole yesterday and my only neighbor for 20 miles in one direction and 100s of miles in every other direction was there, fun visit
