Question ?? It appears that I will be scrapping a lot of my grow and would like to reuse my grow medium . Stone has suggested I sterilize it before I reuse it . Other than placing it in the oven ( which ain't gonna fly in this house ) any suggestions as to how I can accomplish this . ???
Our family farm was bought in 1860, been reusing that soil ever since. I reuse promix/perlite, after each plant is harvested I empty the pot in a pile outside and let the mother nature flush it. Could you just flush it with a couple times its volume with just straight water?

If you have to do it though, put the soil in a couple black plastic trash bags and leave it in the sun for a couple days. Or use some container you could put in your barbeque grill ( if you have one ) and sterilize it in there, no smell in the house!

You will love it. I got the sx 540, probably not much difference. The auto is nice but don't be shy about turning off the auto and playing with the settings.
i'm no camera buff and never understood the fstop and all that. Canon makes it easy.
:pass:

I never sterilize, why kill all those beneficial microbes? Even if you had pythium, let the soil dry, add a beneficial bacteria, fungi etc back into it and they'll out compete anything in the soil. I've even run the same pot of soil 4 times, just busted up the rootball and added some nutrients like Growmore or Jobes, plus lime and epsom salts

Perfect timing Pop22 . You reuse your grow medium how do you sterlize it or do you .

Why on earth would you sterilize your soil? did you have a sick plant??? At the very least, compost it. I recycle all my soil, much of it goes into the compost bin, and as a medium for my worm farm instead of paper, etc for bedding. Hell, and some organic dry nutrients to it and plant in it again, just cut out the stump! Lot of people seem to be working with no-till in small containers now. I'm just starting to trying it but sure seems the way to go IMO.
Long story pop . But I'm scrapping my current grow because there was a mix up and I ended up with a bunch of males which I will be pulling and I want to reuse the medium right away Stone suggested I sterilize it before reusing as a lot of the plants were runts as well and we couldn't determine what the issue was . I think that he just wants to be cautious before replanting . What are your thoughts ??

stir up the soil, let it dry out a bit or even bone dry, then add beneficial bacteria, lots of commercial stuff out there, I just inoculate by using a handful of fresh worm castings or soil from another pot with a living plant in it, it only take a very small amount, a tablespoon will do. Runts are often the caused by the soil being too wet, more so that genetics. Unless the plants look diseased, there is no reason to sterilize. And it will take 2-3 months to repopulate the sterile soil to where it is active again, unless you add 25% worm castings

Woohoo front page! Thanks! The think fast was a mighty impressive strain...but then again so was the Durban Poison, Fruity Chronic Juice and the Blueberry. :D

Wow 42 time zoom!! My old canon powershot is 10mp with a 3X digital zoom. Not great for trich shots but decent enough!! My camera is showing its age now, have to mess around with light options to get a decent shot that shows the colour in its natural form. Here a Colorado cookies I just chopped yesterday.

Loving the stone dragons so far, though they haven't hit any real cure yet, smoking has had good effect on pain so I assume that its going to be really effective in tincture.
