So what's a decent vaporizer for a beginner? Or a brand that's got what I'm looking for? Something cheap but worth buying, just in case it's not my thing. Def prefer something portable and easily hidden. So it really saves that much bud? I've never even looked into them really.

I use one of these: http://ebay.to/2gRthL7 (which is even cheaper than mine was when I bought it) Been using it about a year and it's working great. I do have to replace the mouthpiece, but that's like a $5 part. Holds about a half gram fully packed, vapes really nice. I'd definitely buy another.

As for saving the bud - I vape til the material is about medium-brown, then save it up in a jar. When I have enough for a batch of oil, I use a little mini crockpot thing I found at goodwill for like $6 (I think it's called a "little dipper" by Crockpot). ABV (already been vaped) bud goes in with coconut oil, I plug it in and stir it once an hour for 4 hours. Strain it through an old (clean!) t-shirt into a jar, then let it cool to room temp and freeze it overnight. I've heard this increases the bioavailability of the cannabinoids, but you could skip it if you wanted to - I haven't done a comparison with non-frozen oil to see if it's a legit difference.

After it's been frozen for a day or so, I take it out of the freezer and thaw it for edibles, or eat it straight. Doesn't taste amazing, but who cares.

As for amounts, my tolerance might just be hella low but I use right around 3-4 grams of ABV for a half-cup of coconut oil. A half-teaspoon of the finished product gets me pain-free and buzzy, and a full teaspoon lets me float around in space for awhile. And the good thing is that even if you have to increase that ratio of ABV to oil quite a bit, it's still shit you wouldn't have been able to use if you'd smoked. Win-win either way!

Hmm sorry can help you on affordable small units. I have a desktop Arizer Xtreme Q and its an amazing machine. Very very efficient. I bet I smoke 1/2 the amount than if I was smoking joints(and trust me, I stay just as high)

@912GreenSkell Yep. I was surprised at how well the high compared to smoking. And honestly, I get a far more consistent high from vapes and edibles than I ever did smoking. Longer lasting too. Well, less so with the vape than the oil, but that's to be expected anyway I guess.

What's interesting is that when I weighed my ABV after emptying the bowl of the vape, it was pretty consistently only 10-20% lighter than it's original weight. I was quite pleased to know that (at least with my vape, I'm sure there's gonna be some variation in heat temps and such) I ended up more or less doubling the $$ I spent on the bud to begin with. And I got effective meds for all my issues. Can't get better than that!

@trailanimal

Not sure if I got the yield i was hoping for but I absolutely got awesome bud. Easily best smelling and tasting of what I've grown. I'm glad I cloned it but still got 2 more beans as well so hopefully a higher yielding pheno will come up but only if the quality doesn't suffer. She's dense but still small.
She's beautiful! Nice pic too!!

Also, if you're not into concentrates/edibles, what happens to your trim? Please tell me you're not just trashing it. There's tons of goodies in there!

Ya typically they go to trash. How long after you trim do you think it would still be usable? Next day? Should I jar it if it will be next day? I'm trimming now so trying to decide.

Here is one that's trimmed. Always wonder if I should trim sugar leaves or not. Would leaving them make any difference as far as being harsh?

@ANTiFA thanks for the link. Always helps to know Its been tried and tested for awhile.
