not an option, camp work needs to be done, no matter the weather, good food from the land and river, good clothes and working smart, keeps the Ice Queen from dragging my ass into the abyss

i gotta give u credit. i work outside and hate having to deal with temps between -5 and 20 fahrenheit in winter. i dont know if i could handle -40

Seeing the way they are tethered reminded me of an anecdote ( oh boy, here he goes again...)

A friend of mine's sister lives up outside Fairbanks. They raise sled dogs and His mother went up to visit a couple of years ago. One morning she woke up to see a strange dog just out of reach of the dog kennels and went out to shoo it off. Her daughter came out on the porch and quietly called to her mom. No reaction. So she called in a sharp voice 'MOTHER!". She turned and her daughter insistently motioned for her to come back to the porch. Moments later her husband came out, casually turned and grabbed a starter pistol by the door, and fired a couple of shots out the door.

Timber Wolf.

Her mom did not roam unattended for the remainder of the visit.

yup, living up here, [HASHTAG]#1[/HASHTAG] "rule", be aware of your immediate environment, at all times

I have done a fair amount of back packing up in the NW and you never are ready for what comes around the corner. Gotta be attentive to the world around you or you may wall become a permanent fixture. I popped up over a small rise to surprise a rather robust cougar and luckily for me he was more startled by me than I was of him. He was gone before I could crap my skivvies. I cannot forget how damned big his hind paws were. Talk about getting some traction!

Happy Friday stoners! I'm all caught up now... phew! We have had very pleasant temperatures here this afternoon, but the sun's just going down and the degrees are dropping. Plants are healthy and it's the weekend... oh wait. I'm "retired" (at 45). The whole WEEK is a weekend LOL. Plans for the weekend people? I have to make some lemon cordial, so I'll have to go buy lemons and sugar. Nothing else until Monday then.

:pass:passing to the left dudes..love and peace!
