Mephisto Genetics Any rosin aficionados out there in Mephistoville?

I went with a Dake B-10 benchtop 10 ton press that I'll be setting up with 3x7" caged plates

Definitely better than the Harbor Freight press. But not sure it will get you anything better in terms of yield. Should last longer but for 5x the price, I think I will stick with the 6 Ton

Here the HF press runs $100-150 for the $100 more got the Dake.

HF 6 Ton press is $77 here. Dake is worth $250. I see it for $350 at some places.
I got my HF 6 ton for $60. It's $79.99 here and they give out 20% off normally, but if it around a holiday they have a %25 off that's what I used. The Drake is better I'm sure but I could buy 3 of them and still not pay as much. Pressure is pressure, if your puck is flat as paper then you got just as much out as you can. I think your plate set will have more to do with with better production than press. Your material will have something to say about that as well. But as long as your experimenting and having some fun it doesn't matter. If your happy then that's what's important. Im just like to see more and more people trying and making their own!

I agree 100% nothing magical about an expensive press. Pressure and heat. For $300 you can have a nice personal press. Pressing more than a few grams is a waste for most personal presses. I can buy 4 Harbor Freight presses with the Coupon vs Dake by me. No brainier.

What do you use as your bottom support plate? Not much room with the 6Ton press, the arbor plates are too thick for that press for my plates.

You don't need a huge platen set. Honestly a 3x3 set can be bought on Amazon for $199. It will do the same job as the 3x5 set with your press IMO.
$250 is about right for your press. Harbor Freight is dirt cheap.

I need to press for 4-5 people, not just myself. Would a 3x3 do the duty ok? I don't want to spend hours doing this and if a large platen would reduce my time by some fraction like 1/3 or 1/4 it might be work spending more. I just have no idea if a 3x3 can be big enough for a new people. What do you think?
