Mephisto Genetics Any rosin aficionados out there in Mephistoville?

Hey @Mañ'O'Green , I don't have a press, and I am perfectly happy with flowers. However, I have a bunch of kief to use. I am wondering how to substitute kief for rosin in this recipe. I know my kief will only be about 45-55% thc/cannabinoids as opposed to rosin being 70 to 80%, so I can do the math there. But in terms of getting it to mix with the warmed chocolate, and making sure it is decarbed, I am not sure if there is an easy way to convert? Love the idea of quality edibles that are properly dosed, just not sure how to do it without rosin. Like I said, I have kief and flowers. Any suggestions? TIA!

You should be able to mix the kief with some cocoa butter and decarb it in a hot oil bath 252°F for 27 minutes and just use that in the chocolate. Don't forget to use the Sunflower Lecithin.
 
So, equal parts cocoa butter and kief in a heatproof container, that is sitting in a hot oil bath? I assume the hot oil bath is needed to keep a constant temperature? Do you use cooking oil? In the oven? Or a external controlled burner of some kind (like one of those portable induction burners)? And your measuring the hot oil for 252dgf, or the kief/cocoa butter for 252dgf? Does the kief/cocoa butter need to be covered as it decarbs? Sorry for the questions, just want to get it straight before I attempt. TIA!

Do you mean put the kief and cocoa butter directly in the oil like doing an iffusion and then put the oil in the chocolate bar? I don't know if oil will go good in the chocolate. If you mean just to use the heat to decarb the keif/cocoa butter then why not just decarb the kief along with the butter right in an oven instead?

Put the Kief with an equal weight of cocoa butter in a 1/2 pint canning jar and carefully put it in a pan of 252°F oil. Any vegetable oil will do. You cannot use water because it boils at 212°F. This is what I mean by an oil bath. IMPE it is really hard to control the heat in an oven.

thats why i like the dry decarb. oven works great. hot oil bath too much chance for fuckery.

Looking at plates and getting a press
From harbor freight. Possibly dab press plates they r available on amazon which makes it easy and not too bad on price.
Also get 5% back on my amazon card. When used on amazon. Also $10 for downloading app lol save every penny I can.
