Any idea what's going on here?

Started tearing her down. Top flowers were getting too dense to take care of. Gooey and stinky.

I do have a question though... I notice today in the world of growing there is some thing about "bufd rot" but I'm not sure if that is a fungal or plant death thing. I know that back a few decades ago I grew Colombian Gold or Red bag seed that often had this issue of the buds getting so thick and syrupy that some of the bud would turn brown and just be almost like hash.

Is this the same as bud rot?
