Hi everybody this is my first auto grow and im trying the royal queen northern lights auto first of all im doing it as natural as possible I have an average size pot (may be to small but hey its my first so oh well) and I used rich black soil from my yard and I planted her no germ or anything and in about 58 to 60 hours she was up and now its day 5 and she is tall but leaves really havent grown much its about 4'5 to 5 inches tall I sit her out side from about 8 in the morning until about 7 at nigh and let her sit in some light until 9 then complete darkness until next.morning im not using nutes yet if anyone has info it really would be apperciated im a begginer so dont know much

Everything I say is completly fiction and not true

:DYou really shouldn't use yard dirt,it may carry desease or unwanted insects, and who nows the ph.Is this a outside grow or inside and outside? They need alot of sun if ther outside. What size pots are you using, what type of nutes, whats the ph,what strain are you growing?

Small pots are not a prob unless you want to grow a monster....success is measured by how you take care of what's in the pot. Soil type IS an issue to be aware of.

Thanks namvet25 for advice and its kinda both inside and outside and yea I should have gotten better prepared but too late now but the pot size is 1.5 gallon and im not using nutes I figured she was to young to do so and dont really know the ph and the strain is royal queen northern lights auto thanks again for your time and was wondering is there any saving her

Damn seems I have some plant abuse going on

Thanks automan for the advice and any suggestions on fixing the soil issues all is apperciated

Welcome to AFN. Growing autos can be a bit tricky without the proper soil, nutrients and a good pH meter. Proper pH levels, in particular, are critical to a successful grow. Weed likes things a bit acid, so a pH around 6.3 - 6.5 is best. Should you start to have issues, like yellowing leaves, the pH is always the first thing to check. Weed also likes a well drained soil. Even with garden soil, a generous amount of perlite should be mixed in. Be careful with your waterings. Weed plants like a wet/dry cycle, so only give it water when the pot feels light. We'll do what we can to help. In the mean time I would suggest you do some reading. We have an outdoor section with a lot of successful grows documented there. Also read the sticked threads and check both the Reference Links forum and the Tips and Tricks Knowledge Base. Lots of good, helpful information.

hey major ..welcome to the best info site u can imagine .....I am new and had alot of mistakes as well but garden dirt is about the worst ive read about .....I have invested in Straight coconut fiber Perlite and BiomaX seaweed compost ....For 25 bucks u can get around 40 gallons of dirt but u will need some nutrients ......I mix A large Brick of the coconut fiber to about half the seaweed compost an then a shit ton or perlite ....that was the cheapest dirt ive found with that volume...

the seaweed compost will turn ur plants this aqua blueish its really pretty

There is Some nute that arent cheap at HTG (High Tech Garden )
but there is some that are really good for cheap as welll depends on what u want from the plant
Muddy always gives the best advice and there is alot of different amazing threads so read as much as u can for the next grow ....

Cheap nutrients that ive found from other growers has really helped and saved some money from the other expensive nutes that arent even as good .
make a good soil before u plant that other seed so u get the best results
and some dolomite lime to add to ur soil and then bake it covered for a few weeks out side

good luck bro this shits a headache when it first starts ::)

Ebay has used lights usually for around 100 but not always and its USED ~!!!! so good luck bro NL is some geat smoke to me as welll

Hi majorstoner. I too am a novice and am still learning how to best grow my medicine. I would suggest that you get a ph test kit from your local Aquarium Store, they have a solution that will test up to 250 times. And it isn't very pricey. Of course this is just until you can get a ph meter. Believe me, not knowing your ph can compromise the plant's ability to consume the nutrients effectively. Check your water's ph before you water. You want it at 6.5 for max benifit. Then water your plant. Check the runoff's ph. You want this to show 6.5 or even 6.3, if actual ph is out of range, you have to adjust your water's ph to get the right result from your run off. I hope I'm getting this right, as I'm just learning it myself.
I guess we learn by screwing up, so I should be the most knowledgeable fool around, lol.......I am still trying to get my plant to the proper ph after ignoring the issue. And my poor plant is showing the result. I'm hoping I can get her to the finish line....
CFL's would be a cheap way to start growing your plants inside and maintain temperature control. I don't know where you live, but here in MYGODIT'SKANSAS, the temperatures have been over 100 degrees for several days and we still have the whole month of August. If marijuana does best at 85 degrees, are you stressing your plant if you put her in an environment where the temps could be 20 degrees higher? There are lots of successful CFL grows on this forum, Stone Dragons, Cream Caramel and a Lowryder by a grower with the user id of Noods is an excellent example of a complete CFL grow.
Good luck on your grow
