I asked the same question on my noob grow journal yesterday but haven't gotten a response.

I figured I might get more eyes on it here.

Day 83

I'm seeing cloudy but no amber. Looking for some experienced opinions about taking down plant 1 this weekend. I'd normally have no issue with waiting longer but due to an upcoming trip I'm hoping to get it dried and the initial cure done before we leave. Otherwise I'm going to need to wait three more weeks in order to harvest when we return.

Constructive feedback is greatly appreciated.

You are between a rock and a hard place. Waiting three weeks will be too long and past prime for sure. The plants look almost ready. The problem is after you harvest and dry 4 - 7 days; you will need to burp your jars daily for 7 to 10 days to do a proper cure. So unless you have a friend you trust to tend to that duty the harvest is in jeopardy.

I appreciate the quick reply. You have a firm grasp of my situation. I guess it was poor planing on my part. As a noob grower I thought I was doing good when my research said to plan on closer to 11 weeks than the 9 that the seller was saying. But little did I know I'd be still staring at this thing 84 days (12 weeks) later.

I was thinking that I could get a couple days of flushing in (hydro) and take her down this weekend. That would give me 15 days to dry and do the initial cure before we leave.

That would get you close but you cannot leave new bud without burping for 3 weeks or can you? I have never done that but it seems folly to take that chance after so much hard work.

The reason I understand your situation is because I have been there. Once I got it in the jars I had a friend that I trust burp for me. If That had not happened?????????????????

I've had awesome luck using a dehydrator, I have been ridiculed here for using it. But I swear by it man. Ive been growing for about 4 years or more (lost count). Ive hang dried and burped, used paper bag method, and tried the dumb microwave and paper towel deal. Out of all those I decided to put my bud in a dehydrator on lowest setting, which was 74f and I was amazed. I never got the hay smell you could pick it straight from plant to dehydrator, then smoke in 24 to 36 hours.

Now with that being said I'm trying to see if putting it on a timer 1hr on 30min off makes it any better. But man I swear you can have some fire ass buds and leave it up until 2days before trip. They do actually make a bud dehydrator but anything canna related is priced too high for my taste. But it's basically the same thing.

We will only be gone 3 1/2 days. Leaving on a Monday and coming back on a Thursday. So hopefully the bud will have been in jars for a week before we leave. We will be camping about 90 minutes away. So do you think they would be fine unburped for the 3 1/2 days or will I need to have my wife make a round trip to let them have some air?

 ok, sorry, but that was funnee  but seriously, ya, between a rock & a hard place is right & while it may not be a handy thing to do, lol, me thinkz that yup, sendin wifey on a round trip would be a prudent move ;) ppp

Not necessarily, a four day dry is pretty quick. Seven to ten days would be ideal (dependent of environment) and that may or may not require burping. Burping is needed when the rh is too high in the container. If optimum rh @(62% +/- 2%) can’t be reached then one can use boveda two way 62% packs to reach target rh without the need of burping.

Wait as long as you can, trim all excess off the bud's and place in a brown paper bag for 3-7 days. Then jar it up and find a friend to burp your baby's....Second the Boveda nod!

No moisture is not the reason fro burping the jars. oxygen is needed to break down the chlorophyll. The process in the jar uses up the available o². Curing will stop without it and the grass flavor will remain.
