Live Stoner Chat afterthought...experienced auto grower

Welcome Aridbud,
Always nice to enlarge the family.
I saw that logo on your first post.
Afterthought Autos are a seed seller over at Seedbay, is that you?
They have a couple nice ones I would like to have.
If it is you, I have a couple of questions.
How has your breeding been done? Outside for toughness, or inside for looks & taste?
I had a rough time trying to keep newly sprouted autos alive outside.
It seems they are unfortunately weaker in the seedling stage than Photos when started outside.
I would think that with your diversified ruderails gene pool you should be able to fix that.
What do you say ?
Anyway,welcome and enjoy your stay.

Welcome to AFNlogo aridbud! :smokebuds:

Thanks to all for your hardy/hearty welcomes! When I first came upon rudy in the wilds, I could not nor dared not believe. Well, I'm a believer!! I have several strains I'm enhancing from other seeders as well. Way enjoy Spain, Portugal, UK and Brazialian genetics, and Nederland, of course; it's always my first last stop across the pond, the lower provinces, especially. Have an affinity to Noord Holland, but like to be where silk long johns are not the daily attire, even in summer. Several great breeders across the North American map, too, which I've got in my seed box. Several chronic ailments, so my energy is concentrated concocting the primo strains for such. Always a work in progress, as you all know.

I'm organic soil...giving a synthetic boost towards the early-middle flowering as bone/blood, bat guano doesn't pump up like synthetic supplements perform. How about you guys?

Obrigado, Ilynnboy.Oui, that is moi. Thanks for your response.
Are you speaking of autos, in general, with difficulty sprouting outside? You'll have to give me more particulars. I do the majority outdoors, seeds in containers from the get/go...mid-April through 3rd week of October, protecting in weather elements. Found with my coordination skills, I'd hamper the pumule/radicle (white shoot/root) if soaked in wetted towel or water. If in cooler weather, I build my own wall-o-water using 2l bottles filled to keep roots/soil warm....applies in April and towards the end of my grows in Oct. This year, I've germed in the garage...usually warm, dark area until sprouted, then move outside. Too, I segregate males to their man cave (garage) for pollen collecting or the honeymoon suite. Prior, I had greenhouse extending time/growth/maturity in the work.

I have three areas indoors for segregation/growth. Do both...indoor/outdoor putting seeds to the 'test'. Numerous use hydro with grand results.

I'm old school....I've started seedlings in party cups drilled at bottom in my own soil starter....sifting through top soil removing woody particles, sand and vermiculite until 2 sets of leaves, then plant in container before dusk having the warmth of the day penetrate containers...usually 3-5 gallon.

And I swear by Super Thrive or willow bark soaked as plant tonic throughout, ensuring strong root base. Try some of that to your newly planted outdoors project.

afterthought....sheesh, I'm always having those....I'm now thinking you might be plopping autos seeds in the ground, perhaps, Ilynn?

My belief, autos like to 'feel the love' from container hug, no matter the container size. I've grown 'wildly', too....not much attention given and return later to see Mother Nature nurturing or neglecting....along meanders, hikes, near culverts, etc. Nurture:65 Neglect:35%. Seen spectacular pics of AF's...huge, voluptuous grown...my feeling, they were started in container and transplanted. I like chameleon foliage, blending in with height of surrounding flora.....not tall, au natural. I prefer containers in my own area....can move them, conserves water. Much of my victory garden is raised beds or 5 gal buckets.

Recently read cool article about straw bale gardening....going to implement next year, both veggies and other....makes perfect sense! Several articles/book out there...Goggle it.

So many ways to cultivate/watch morphing of cannabis as she grows.I love the feel of the earth, hence soil.

Ilynnboy, what's been your outdoor approach thus far?
