Hello everybody,

I'm a first time medical grower in Autopots
After careful consideration I'm going to use Canna Coco professional and Canna Coco nutrients which I have already purchased.
I'm going to be using a Telos 10 pro in a Budbox 4x4 utilising four AV5 15l pots
I've got all the items to go with it.... humidifier, dehumidifier....all the monitors, fans filters and what have you.

Is there anybody out there who is using a similar set up who would be willing to mentor me a little bit ?

I'm specifically stuck on a couple of things......

I'm aware that I need to hand water the Autopots until the roots of my autoflowers have established.....but I've looked everywhere regarding the amount of water and Canna nutrients to give them before I turn on the Autopots.

I've already bought the full range of Canna Coco feeds....boosters....rhizotonics etc.

I'm aware that the maxim "less is more" is great advice and I've spent the last few months getting as much of an education as is possible from YouTube as possible.

But I don't know anybody personally to ask for the snippets of advice that still seem to elude me.

Thanks for reading this guys.......I'm about to take the plunge after being sick and tired of inconsistent street medicine for my condition.

One love

Jack

Think rule of thumb with autos is start with around a 50% feed and see how they do, might need a little less, might need a little more and pay lots of attention to your PH. That's as much as I can help with as only thing similar between our grows is the autopots.......

I generally hand water a quart per plant per day just because it makes the math easier. It's a lot of run off at 1st, but by the time they're ready for the autopots it'll be very little runoff. I don't use those nutes so can't give you anything specific, but the general rule is around 500ppm. If you mix a batch and it's too high just water it down with more water to get where you want. Stay on top of your ph, and check out cocoforcannabis for directions on how to clean and buffer your Coco

It sounds like you are in the right track. You won’t need to wash or buffer your coco in you are using Canna bags, they are good to go, pre-rinsed and buffered.

Definitely check out cocoforcannabis, great website. It has pretty much everything you need to know about growing in coco.

Make sure you also read all the info on autopots website. For the soil mix they recommend mix coco with about 50% drainage substrate to ensure enough air in the root zone when the medium is fully saturated. You can use most standard drainage substrates perlite, clay pellets, rice hulls, but I am particularly fond of these:

They are little chunks of coco about the same size as the clay pellets, they are also pre-rinsed and buffered. I like they for a lot of reasons, they are light weight, hold some water, are great for healthy root development and are compostable, which is a major downside to a lot of other drainage substrate.

I am not using autopots, although I am going to get some in the near future, but I am using a different self watering planter system with the 50/50 mix of canna coco pro/grow it coco croutons. I have used canna coco nutrients in the past, but for this grow I am trying out Grow Dots & Recharge and so far big thumbs up.

I would agree that starting you feed at about 50% is a good starting point, but don’t start feeding until sometime during week 2 in most cases. Even in pre-buffered coco it’s usually a good idea to give the medium additional calmag. If you are using tap water make sure you have an EC of about .4 (Canna recommend base water EC) or add calmag to RO until about .4 EC. When using Canna coco it’s sort of hard to over water since it drains so well, coco holds about 50% as much water as peat even without additional drainage medium and adding 30-50% additional drainage should make it almost impossible to overwater. Always water to runoff and make sure the EC of your runoff is close to the EC of your feeding solution. Lots to know about coco growing, but these are some of the basics.

happy growing!

Thank you so much for this information. I hadn't heard of cocoforcannabis but I'm going to check the site out this evening.
I'm now looking at seed banks and will order in the next couple if days.
Think I'm going to go for some Gorilla Glue and some auto Jack Herer......but we shall see.
Thank you again for your kind advice

I'll add my vote - if you want to grow in coco, CocoforCannabis is the best place to start by far. The information there is excellent, and there is lots of it.
