Hi all, i am using biobizz lightmix and water is bottled from supermarket. Ph of water is 8.2 after left open to evaporate chlorine.

My seeds have sprouded and are 2 days old and i give them plain water of 8.2ph. I do have a ph down from botanicare. I read that ph should be in the 6.5 range and im confused.

I am wondering, do i need to ph down? if using my ph down will harm the seedlings?

No need to be confused, plenty here to help. Why are you using bottled water can I ask?

8.2 is too high, try to bring the next watering to around 6, it will only take a tiny drop or 2 so be stingy with it. Think about starting a journal in the new growers section. Got one going myself, great for advice and support :D

Good luck with them!

Well this is my second grow. The first one didnt last long as it was a disaster from the first 20 days so i started over :(

My tap water is EC 1 and PH 8.5 so i went to bottle water that has EC 0.6 and ph 7.6 but after open bottle and let it sit for a day ph raises to 8.2.

Thanks for advice maybe i can edit this posts title and make it a journal or start a new one. If starting a new post it will be better to delete this one.

Ph down to 6.5 is good right?

My first wasn't great either but learned loads here :D

Anywhere between 6-6.5 is good for soil. I'd go 6 initially to try to buffer initial high ph and then let it vary in that range throughout the rest of the grow. Different foods e.g. calcium, magnesium, etc. are absorbed by roots at different ph's in that range.

Sure :D I'm in coco now but take a looksie https://www.autoflower.org/threads/...cothrive-coco-lite-dutchpro-soft-water.70119/

In my last attemp to grow i used to ph down to 6.1 and they wasnt looking very good. They was kind of yellow. Not much but i could see that something was wrong. I am very skeptical for using ph down with this new start.

After 10 to 12 days i will start feeding them nudes that buffer the water ph, so i will not use any ph adjustment.

My concern is now, the first 10 days...will the ph down make good or bad to the root zone?

You're only likely to need to feed plain water once or twice more and your roots will develop much better in the correct ph range. I know your fears, strong acid, but you'll add about 1 drop to a gallon to achieve that reduction. It'll be massively diluted. You may need another drop but same principle applies

This ph down from botanicare is less concentrated so i think i need more than 2 drops to take it from 8 to 6. Anyway i will try this and see.

As for my tap water. Is there a way to bring EC down to 0.5 from 1 and ph down to 7 from 8?

The only way to get EC down is to filter itpH down is the best way to change water pH, but when you add nutes you should also double check the final pH even if the manufacturer says it's not necessary. I have pH 7.5 filtered water and when I add veg nutes it comes down to 6.5 or so. I still need to add a capfull of pH down per bucket and sometimes two to get it to my desired 5.8.

Capfull per bucket: a technical term for a lazy mans measurements.

Some Reverse Osmosis equipment will be needed to run the tap water through.
You will end up with water at very close to 0EC and just above 7pH.
I would just go ahead and use your tap water.
My water varies between .4 and .58EC.
I use it in DWC with no issues.
Everyone wants to get the perfect conditions, but people seem to forget that we are growing a weed. It can flourish outdoors in conditions that are far from perfect.
As long as things are 'ballpark' (with a few exceptions) then you are good to go.
Don't expect a perfect plant, because they are few and far between. Yes, people on these forums can and do grow amazingly, but these people are only a fraction of a percent of people who are growing. The other 99.99% of us are (and should be) happy with a decent plant making it to the end.
I have a friend growing indoors with bugger all equipment - no pH pen, no EC meter, no temperature control (apart from opening and closing a window), no humidity control, uses potting compost from Lidl and a simple grow/Bloom nutrient along with tap water, and he gets a harvest every time.
