I have followed the acquisitions for awhile now, The reason I still don't have a problem using some of the products they acquired is because they didn't create the product or change it. they were outclassed and knew it so bought them out. The formulas were created before and are still great. and I don't get bent out of shape on politics. They worked before still work and are inexpensive (some) Just like I don't buy only whole foods and still like my greasy hamburgers. Good read though!
mean no disrespect btw Just my opinion
stay lit!
And Scotts own Hawthorne, It's their hydroponics subsidary
You are correct as far as I can tell, GH hasn't changed their formula "yet" but they damn sure answer the phone by "Hawthorne". For one thing it is not ONLY about politics, it's about their business practices which are WELL documented....Your paying for their criminal actives and knowing do so. If your fine with that then ok, go ahead and give your money to these scum sucking *#(@$*@. This for the folks who may not know who and how the products that they purchased goes to fund pieces of shit like the above. Yes you are also correct Hawthorne is a subsidiary formed by Scotts to buy into the Cannabis industry without having to use the Scotts name. They also own CAN Filters, Othro, Roundup, Trugreen, etc, etc....
That is not a company that I do business with and that is not how I run mine either. For me it's about giving back to the community and buying local if the price is competitive. We have ran this way since day one and sure we pay more for some products than some other companies do. But we "I" can look a customer straight in the face and tell them about what products we may use on their properties and 9 out of 10 customers thank us for our service and honesty. You may do as you wish as it's your money, just passing good solid info along to folks who may not know, aka PSA.
Just one of many examples;
Sale of bird seed in 2005–2008
On January 27, 2012, Scotts Miracle-Gro agreed to plead guilty in federal court and pay $4.5 million in fines for selling 73 million units of bird seed from November 2005 to March 2008 that was coated with pesticide known to be deadly to birds and fish. Pesticides were added to protect the product from insects during storage, notwithstanding that Storcide II, one of the pesticides used, was clearly marked as extremely toxic to birds. Records show that its own experts warned of the risk in the summer and fall of 2007 and yet Scotts continued to sell the deadly product until March 2008. In 2008, Scotts Miracle-Gro also falsified pesticide registration numbers required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on its products.

On September 7, 2012, in Ohio, a federal court sentenced Scotts to pay a $4 million fine and perform community service for 11 criminal violations of the
Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). In a separate agreement with the
Environmental Protection Agency, Scotts agreed to pay more than $6 million in penalties and spend $2 million on environmental projects. According to the Justice Department, both the criminal and civil settlements are the largest under FIFRA to date
