Finishing up my 2nd grow, hoping to get some constructive criticism and answers to some issues to help improve my skills. Im loving the hobby and community and hope to continue to get better at growing. My first grow was a borderline travesty till i joined here, this went a little better and a little worse i suppose.

Both plants are NL auto fem vision seeds. Grown in 3g smartpots with sunshine #4 under marsII 700 and 4' 4 bulb t5 with dutch master gold nute line and cal mag. Temp 78-81 rh 40-55% lights 20/4

First lady i tried my first attempt at LST. I used flexible ties from lowes to move branches trying to get a more even canopy. While i managed to keep the plant shorter, im curious about the yield. I think she was a short fat pheno to begin (first grow had 2 distinctly different phenotypes) her side branches all look like colas which i love, just not sure of overall yield as she is a good foot shorter than her untied sister. She flowered quicker, produced trichs quicker and has far denser bud structure. She also showed signs of a deficiency pretty badly after i was away for a few days around day 50. I thought it might be cal mag so i did the stupid thing and gave her everything but cal mag to see if it was indeed the issue. Fried a ton of leaves very quickly. Question answered. Rescued her with ample flushing with calimagic. Shes on day 3 of flush and will go another week -10 days till chop.

Lady #2 didnt get anything other than love and a lil leaf tucking and some lollipoping around day 40. She has a nice pyramid shape and has been very easy to grow. Think shes going to go a lot longer which im fine with. Still just hammering away water and ferts and looking really healthy imo. Only complaint is buds are far between and not super dense. Shes shooting out an incredible amount of pistils still, is this what you would call foxtailing? Dunno but im thinking shes going to be great if i can get another 3 weeks or so out of her

so thanks for checking them out, im still tuning my skills and room for a hopefully very successful mephisto grow in the very near future

Nice grow! Hope you get some responses.. I haven't had much luck with that, personally. I am growing NLA for my first grow.. Hopefully my results will be acceptable, too. Happy growing!

Hey Britch, that sounds familiar lol, my first couple rounds were borderline disaster before I joined here. I'd say you're on the way now, just keep practicing :)

As for advice, autos love and need their CalMag regularly, and early too, sometimes starting with a tad of CalMag after the second week. It can sneak up on ya too lol, it snook up on me recently with a baby photoperiod I thought was too young to need CalMag already lol.

I think you're on the right track though :) As you practice just by growing more, the plants just start getting better. NL was a good choice to learn on, I'd also suggest anything by Sweet Seeds which are really good for learning more on, as they take abuse really well, and can take just about any variations of nutrients so you can play with dialing that in too. They can take a lot of nute before burning too, in fact I'm not even sure I've seen one burnt yet lol. :)

Keep at it man :)
