I would recomend using pots that will blend in to envirment instead of normal black pots. Try to use flat colors and I would recomend something to retain moisture like you asked about like silica beads or clay pellets. I have not used either but would find something that works and also try to use as large of pots as you can get up there. Moisture control and pot tempiture would be high priority for me. Maybe put something like fine bark in top of pot to help hold moisture in. If it gets hot out your probably going to have to water every day. It might be a little tough. I would never plant out doors away frim my own property in pots unless I lived some were cool like Portland Oregon or Seattle Washington. I hope you have mild weather. There are seek ways of growing in doors that would be a lot less hassle. Have you seen PC grow boxes? The best type of out door grow area would be near a creak so you had access to water.
I am at 43 N. Mediterranean climate. I think I will go with colored pots and put some surrounding vegetation around them. Also there is option to cut and pull of trees or shrubs but then again it might be visible due to spreadness/lacking of them. I am considering fog collecting for water, for now it is just an idea.
