Would it beneficial to trim some (not all) of the leaves and little branches off that are underneath the canopy or just leave them alone?

Firstly, I would leaf tuck the best you can to allow the light you have to get down into those lowers. You can lightly defoliate over a course of time here and there to open them up a bit. As far as towards the bottom of the plant, if it doesn't look substantial and you want to focus the energy into the tops, you could lollipop a few nodes up. This would in turn increase air circulation up through the plants, especially with a tight canopy like that and when those buds start putting on weight. You could always do a partial harvest as well, snipping the main colas and letting those lower buds bulk up some when the time comes.

I have some small plastic garden plant clips.
I might try clipping some of the top water leaves down so they don't keep popping up. I tried to control the shade they cast by tucking them but they are stubborn and keep going back quickly. I suppose that's a good sign they are growing fast...lol.

I have been using bread ties as a halo and folding the leaf in on itself like an umbrella. just slide the bread tie over the leaf once it is folded down to keep it loosely folded. Works like a charm. Keeps the leaf oriented to the light so it does not stress and stays active. The tucking works big time in concert with pony tailing early. I am learning that one right now with the current run. You got a tent full of fun!
