Autos are pretty hardy. I had one live on my garage window sill all winter and it was exposed to temps in the high 20s. Frost is more of a problem. They can stand some light frost but a heavy frost can damage them. If they are in pots, just bring them in at night. If they are in the ground, mulch them with something like grass clippings, ground up leaves, straw, hay, etc. to help keep the roots warm. Cold roots will stop the uptake of P. If they are calling for frost, simply cover them with something. A bigger pot, a sheet, anything but plastic. Plastic doesn't breath.
