I have a 400w mh/hps ballast and a 315w bulb and hood adapter. Can i run the bulb on the 400w ballast? Should i set it to mh or hps? Thanks.

[emoji24][emoji24][emoji24] youre supposed to say yes of course its better that way.....
I dont has $$ for a new ballast (yes i know amazon has 1 for $100) im that kinda broke atm. Being a homeowner sucks when the ac breaks at late spring/the start of summer.
Thanks though. I appreciate an answer either direction. I origionally bought the ballast with mh/hps in mind. Then went to led for this grow. I wanted to go cmh (as i already have a bulb and the hood adapter). The shop guy said it should be fine except that the bulb will burn out sooner, but i also work in sales so i like to 3x check with strangers in forums. Lol.

Come up!! For helping a buddy get a setup, my local shop owner tossed me his (used) sunsystem 315w all in one. Needless to say i will nit be running the 400w ballast. And it went to someone who needed one.
