So I had a reasonably successful first grow, thanks to the help of everyone here at AFN! https://www.autoflower.org/index.php?threads/1st-grow-dutch-passion-think-different-big-buddha-cheese-led-cfl-soil.39651/

Towards the end of this one I decided to plant three seeds. Yep, three of them - before my first harvest. First mistake. Then I decided that since I used all organic (no nutes) soil on the first grow that I would get better results by dousing the soil with the GO Box nutes before popping the seeds in. Second mistake. Oh and I also forgot to cover the pots with cellophane. One seed (the Think Different) never sprouted (I was bummed as that is the best smoke ever imho). Finally about day 4 after planting The Grape Meuerto sprouted (front picture). Day five the Auto Durban Poison.

This was on March 23rd. My first grow was in week 8 and things were getting exciting! Thankfully, I was documenting that grow here so I remembered to jot down a couple of notes about these two on my calender.

Week one for these two... They look fine?

But, back to Mistake #1. Every time I looked in my tent I was focused on this!

So I negleted the needs of the babies a bit. But they survived!

Week 3 or 4 or 5, Idk:

Yep I was REALLY distracted by then! This is Louise the Cheese. She even got a BOM Nom for April!

In the meantime, I was sporadically watering and over feeding the other two plants. I mean I would forget and leave the CFL's and the LED on for a whole day. With the extraction fan at low. Look inside and it was 98 degrees for the past 24 hours. Over fed. Flushed. Put them outside. Changed lighting schedules. You name it, I did it.

So this is how the AutoDurban Poison turned out after a week(s) of neglect/abuse...

Pretty, huh! I mean she was like 35 days old here (or something - I was distracted you know)

In the meantime, the Grape Muerto is holding it's own. I'm dutifully impressed!

So, after a couple of weeks trying to nurse the DP back to health and I see this:

I let it go for a few days and looked again. Yep it had HERMIED. Big time! I mean it had pretty, tiny little buds all over it...and dozens, dozens of sacs :(. So in the trash it went.

Thankfully the Grape Muerto is doing okay! Here she is at Day 49.

So I guess what I learned is this:
  1. One grow does not make an expert! Read and re-read all the stuff you read before your first grow! Trust me, you will forget some things (hehe - this is a weed forum after all).
  2. You have to pay attention. Quite a bit of attention! Lights, Temperatures, Air Flow, Nutrients, H20, PH, etc... This takes time. Pretty much every day. Plan your grow around that.
  3. Don't freak out if something happens. Seek advice right here at AFN. Don't start guessing what the problem and over -react like I did, throwing way to much stress at the plants!
  4. There is much to learn about this artform/science (because it is an art - and science). Keep expanding your knowledge!
I have planted two new seeds and am finishing this Grape Muerto. My plan is to really dial in on soil PH and try to learn as much as I can. Second, I have a new light coming and I want to understand lighting better - especially the LED's. That's it. I'm not going to try a bunch of new stuff until I get those things down.

Anyway hopefully this little tale will help somebody. Felt good to unload! Now I'm off to enjoy the fruits of my labor...

Peace,

Jane

Sorry about your plants but it's a good story to keep everyone in check!! It's all in good fun and there is always another seed to plant. Live and learn! Thanks for sharing

Hi,

Good luck with your grow! I've read that autos don't like to be transplanted so I hope that works for you!
