I like the idea of filtration, but restricting the fans pulling power twice over seems like it could be detrimental to longevity. You're already pulling through a carbon filter, which restricts the fans performance already. Adding an additional filter that only allows the fan to pull through one small opening, seems like it would make that fan work extra hard at any speed

Didn't think about putting a HEPA cone filter on the 4 inch and using that as an intake. Seems like that would be pretty effective.

could you intake air from different location away from furnace. that flexible ducting is cheap for 8 feet and the back pressure for that run would be barely anything.
