New Grower 1st time grow

hello farmers!first off i throw myself at ya mercy i have so much to learn, well here it is... i have about 500 dollars and want to build my own indoor grow room. i have heard good and bad about cfls...does anyone have an easy set up for me for around my budget??? my soil will be fox farm\ocean forest .. was thinking of growing russian rocket fuel anyone have any suggestions? any info would be great thank you and look foward posting later

yes I have a spare shed i live in the south pretty warm! all i have purchased is the the fox farm ocean forest! and i was gonna grow in smart pots, how are they???

foxfarm the way to go, nute w/ big bloom. also we need some berry strain of some sort, im checkin now

first off, thanks for replying!! the space im using is 8x10 if i did that right l x w for sqaure footage.lol!!!!! could be big enough for one person to live in, already has water and power a total of six regular sockets. Im not set on using cfls they just seemed to be the cheapest and easiest to install and handle, low overhead sounds good also,lol, but i also want to grow good smoke...im open for any suggestions you may have! it probally gets 90 to 100 degrees here in summer but i planing on planting with in the next month temp will be from 50 to 60s maybe occ 40s

Hey Carolina.

For the amount of space you have I'd consider something other than cfl's. I use them but I have a really small cabinet 2x3 footprint. I've only done one grow and just started my second. The first thing I'm going to buy when I can build a bigger grow space is a hps hood. My buds work/taste great and I got a good yield, but def on the fluffy side, I attribute that to cfl's. Unless you're in the woods and don't care about odor the best money I spent was my Can carbon filter.

Also I used ff ocean floor. From what I encountered and what I've read on here OF tends to go acidic. I had constant trouble keeping my soil ph in check. Buy some dolomite lime and mix it in with your soil beforehand. Someone should correct me if need be but I think its like 1 tsp per gallon of soil.

I second the digital ph meter as a must too.

i want to grow like six or seven plants!!! what should my light set up look like!!! will one hps hood be enough??? can you use a combo of cfls and hps or is that a dumb question?????

only advice i have is dont use foxfarm ocean forest. use happy frog made by fox farm instead. you will have less nute problems with happy frog.
