12/12 from seed?

I use 18/6 light schedule my whole first run. Running 1000 watt hps so try to save on electric costs by cutting it down 2 hours. Was just wondering what would happen running 12 and 12 with autos. Thanks for the replys. This is my first run with autos as I've only ever grew photos.
Bud the best advice I can give you is to stop using hps and switch to led. You will save more in the end by going led than will cutting light. The light will pay for itself in a few grows. I think the sweet spot is 20/4. I do 24/0 in winter for the heat like Mizzo said. I have to say I dont see a difference in growth between 20/4 and 24/0. Anything that is living can use a little rest in my opinion. They grow in 24hr of light in the artic because they have no choice. If they could rest I bet they'd love it lol. And doesnt it get kinda dark in some place that are 24hr of light? I saw something on TV where they were in 24hr of light but it wasnt bright very low light. Was early am looked a lot like dawn but was like that for few hrs. Play around and report back. Sometimes you just have to do it yourself to find out.

I live in the upper peninsula. We have tons of snow right now, it's negative 7 degrees outside. I grow in my basement which gets cold. So the 1000 watt hps helps with heat in the winter for me. Plan on growing outdoors this summer to save money. Lol. Then buying auto cobs when I can afford too if I want to run indoor in the summer. The hps helps me in the winter though with heating my room and I won't get rid of it because of that

I’m new to indoor. But less light for faster growth seems to go against autos. Even for plants in general. Lights out = root growth though.

Yeah and the bigger the roots can grow, the bigger the plant can grow. That's why I believe autos could use a dark period, and let the equipment get a break daily. Why I give mine 6 hours of dark each day, and to save some bucks on electricity costs of course

I know what ya mean my basement is like 50° I run 3 autocobs and will put my p150 on. The 3 autocobs keep my 2x4x5 tent around 75° when they are on.

I don't have a tent. Grow in the open in the basement. Threw a tarp up in the back of my basement. I built my own giant tent with a tarp. Lol

My 1000 watt hps and 4 bulb t5 keeps my temp about 68 in the day when it's running in my room. I kick on a little space infrared heater to add heat between 72 and 75 lights on. I'm paranoid of fire so check it all day when its on and turn it off at night so no heat when I'm sleeping. Don't want to burn the house down. Got kids to worry about. Sometimes temps are cooler when I wake up. Coldest it ever got was 59 degrees Fahrenheit in my room. Warmest it's got is 78 degrees Fahrenheit when I forgot my heater on all day one day and worked my normal 12 hour shift. But usually it's mid 60s in the night time. I've grown in freezing cold attic and harvested buds somehow my very first grow. Lol weed is pretty resistant I learned. I don't know how they didn't die with how cold it was. Warmer temps bring more buds I learned though real quick when I moved my room from the attic to the basement. Much better choice

After seeing what autocobs do I can't wait til I can afford to get some. They look bad ass.

I wanna rock my hydro with my gh nutrients cuz that's what I know. But I want to turn one of my closets into a soil grow with a auto-cob and mega crop. I wanna learn soil as I like the taste of soil weed also.

I'm going to start with just 1 auto-cob during veg, maybe buy a 2nd one a check or 2 later for flowering and just grow 1 nice auto in some bio bizz lightmix soil with mega crop nutes. I'll always do a couple Hydro at least but want to get more involved with soil as it seems like less work also than hydroponics.

I just ran biobizz light mix and Megacrop, what was your ph? Mine was like 4.9 after mixing nutrients but had to use ph+, but not supposed to use it with biobizz. Biobizz has a ph +/- but cant find for sale in the US, at least yet.
