So about a month back i ordered a couple of super cheap AC cobs, just for fun really, thought I play around and see how they work.

I forgot all about the order and it finally arrived yesterday... 1 month to get from the UK to the Netherlands. tjah!

In my box I have a few old video card and CPU coolers, you know how it is, and also a few old Phone chargers, you know how that is too i guess.

The AC Cobs are not very efficient i think, but one has to have a little fun now and again.

I think it will work out fine for seedlings, rather than blasting them with 10 x 1212's

Very nice, I like it!

thanks, it was just a quickie, took about 30 mins to find the bits and put it together, all from old junk sitting around in the box/shed/storage, Video card coolers have larger thermal plates than most CPU coolers so seem a better option for these cheap cobs. running quite cool, 24.5 right on the thermal plate, barely above body temp 5 cm under the light. at this rate I might try without the fans see how it warms up.

I did this with 10 50w $2 cobs. Used a pwm splitter and a 110v to molex. Had a box of very old amd cpu coolers and a ton of inexpensive thermal paste. I bought wiring and the cobs. So i had over 500w for about $50 usd. Temps where never a problem and the end result was killer for the money invested. Dont sleep on the cheapos
