Olderfart. I think he is @elderweeder on here now. I read that one a bunch of times. It was solid work he did. The wine fridge mini dehu was a lot easier! hahahahah
I already had the dehumidifier unit, and it works but not in any sort of open space, so taking it apart for the useful bits wasn’t a hard decision.

Hey dude, what watering system do you use? And is your coco mixed w perlite? Never done straight coco and thinking of going that route when I get my autopots eventually. I’m curious about what methods you use when you grow, you always have awesome results, especially w autos!

Thinking of making the switch but I have my ways so dialed and cost efficient! I need to run some numbers but if coco ends up being cheaper I’ll probably go that route, at least for the big tent. It also seems like the easiest medium to run in autopots, which I plan on eventually running.

Thanks dude! I grow very hands off with automated irrigation. I buy prebagged 70/30 coco/perlite. I don’t care about the brand as I “re-buffer” it with weak nutrients and check the runoff.
I have a DIY automated irrigation system. There is a thread here:
I check the runoff EC and adjust timing/frequency to keep it in range. Sometimes I do have to go and manually run the pump & check runoff until the EC comes back down. Happens towards the end when the pot is mostly roots.

I do not think coco is cheaper than soil. I have a lot of runoff and drain-to-waste systems are inherently “wasteful” but it is easy. I am able to drain directly into our basement sump, which pumps out into the front flower garden. The neighbors think I have a green thumb. It’s really just waste nutes and extra water.
The growth is fast and if you run into issues you can “flush” coco easily to reset the pot.

+1 on the coco. I am back to it after trying most other media, but I never tried full hydro. I love the ability to deal with nute issues that come up. Dead easy to flush a bit to whatever the new EC/PPM the grower has in mind. With soil, when stuff gets off track, it can be all but impossible to correct because, among other issues, there is no way to know what the soil still has in it, so no way to know how to make it right. Others here make soil work fine, but turns out that I prefer coco. I tried a full organic, water only grow, and got a harvest, but the plants were not happy later in the grow, and I could not figure out how to fix. With top irrigation to runoff, and salt nutes (Jack’s for me now), coco can actually be remarkably forgiving for peeps willing to deal with Ph and EC. I’ll be sticking with it now.

How did the dry turn out for the diy cannatrol? I was putting a list of parts together for one but then decided to automate my closet, kinda turning it into a larger version.

Hahahaha I know the feeling! So many people doing good work. Thanks for stopping by and the kind words.
I will do a decent update with the diy canntrol/hang dry comparison soon. Plus I gotta update with final weight etc… Been too busy to get any trimming done. Day off tomorrow. Hopeful.
