I've always loved me a nice bud of White Widow and Antonio had been so nice as to provide me with ample seeds to grow 'n show their Auto White Widow in the past. The flavor of the buds was so similar to the White Widow I smoked that season in Coffeeshop Catweazle. Yup, I went to the source and had a talk with the house dealer or how you wanna call it. I tried to get my hands on clones, but he wouldn't have it.
Anywho...This got me thinking. Would I love to get my hands on some regular Auto White Widow? Why yes of course...But I want to recreate everything from scratch.
So I ordered myself a couple of White Widow variants from different old school Dutch Seedhouses...Dutch Passion (fem), Greenhouse Seeds (fem) and The Sjamaan himself is sending me a 5-pack of (reg) Photo White Widow seeds. While ordering I couldn't resist to even get Linda's version of their Photo White Widow, at 4.5€ for three seeds...Come on...We all know these cheap seeds come from reputable breeders with surplus...

The plan is to run all four variants inside the tent, side by side. Again in the 3.5L pots. This will keep the plants small and maneuverable.
I will need some help and advise from some of the Photo experts here reading along. I'm thinking of Antonio and St. Tom to begin with, but other peoples input will be very much appreciated. As growing Photo's is another different ballgame then the easy growing of an Auto...
The male will be coming from the regulars from The Sjamaan, but the selected stud will be pollinating all the females inside the tent. This will provide ample seeds to continue with. From there on I'll be able to select future breeders to be crossed with the Auto White Widow variants I already have in my seed collection. From there on the hard work in stabilizing the Auto trait while keeping all that White Widow goodness will commence. Although, if I run these offspring inside the greenhouse only Auto's will be showing sex as because of the light poisoning a Photo won't flower. This project will thus take place in both the tent and the greenhouse.

What's your thoughts on this you guys? Doable or am I wasting my time?

Sounds like my kind of project, go for it!

I got some real GDP regs growing and I just found a male. Going to do several crosses with that pollen, GDP x Auto U;timate and GDP x Wedding cake photo.

Definitely doable mate and with the combined greenhouse/indoor grow area's you can select/hunt a bit faster once you've made that initial crossing. You should have some amazing self created Auto WW seeds by the end of next year :d5:

and tbh, even working with clones, you never know what you get, doing a proper selection yourself always works better imo.

Personally I would get some of our regular White Widows in there as well (preferable to fem, especially for breeding). Just send me a PM, I'm sure I can find a way to get you stocked :eyebrows:

It's love of the plant as well as what it does for us! And I like both ends of the spectrum, I'm also growing landrace strains. I'll be doing some this spring including Mazar i Sharif, which I absolutely love!

Hey Guys,

Everything is going it's steady pace. The main cola's are starting to expand wherever the pistils have started to subside...On the lower ends of the plants pistil production is still going steady, so we're not at the finish line at all. But it sure as hell is looking very scrumptious :pop:

One bit of bad news is that my time lapse camera has given up and is gone to greener pastures...I've replaced it with the new one I bought, but this means I'll have to resort to switching SD cards every time I go to the tent...The annoying thing is, to get to the SD card I need to unscrew the camera from the tripod...So in short, another step back... :shrug:

These ladies are piling up the trichomes though...

...Healthy looking and enjoying the new 30 Watt UV light, which runs two hours a day, once at 8am and once at 8pm. This has been running like this for a while now and I'm wondering if I should raise the amount or not? ie, might run it four times a day for one hour...What's your thought on this guys?

The ladies are still drinking 2.5L/0.66gallon per day divided between the nine of them...To the 5L bottle of dechlorinated water I add 15ml Bio PK 5-8 and 25ml Orgatrex. Shake well before watering, because when left for 24 hours there's quite a lot of sludge which collects at the bottom of the bottle. All pure stinky goodness fattening my buds

Even the fanleaves are turning crusty with trichomes...

I can look at this picture for hours...This is one of the lowers of my seed mothers...

Anyway, no time lapse today, but hopefully I'll be back with them very soon...It's just going to be so much more work extracting the pictures from the damn thing...pfff....

Hey guys

Everything is going smoothly inside the tent, but that's old news right?

Every day I divide 2.5L water, with Orgatrex and Bio PK 5-8 added to it, between the nine ladies inside the tent.

I've also added another one hour shift for the UV light. Now the lights come on every eight hours for one hour at a time. I feel the ladies are responding very well to this treatment. And I've not seen any issues arising from this treatment.

Also cleaned up the lowest branches from each plant. The budsite weren't going to amount to anything and the energy is better spent somewhere else.

Yup, I'm satisfied with this cross. Just have to be patient for a couple of more weeks until I can chop them down.

In the meantime I've started to collect White Widow from several other sources as well. When reading about the history I found out that the Fem seeds from Greenhouse aren't probably the real deal. Since Franco past away (RIP), the company never seemed to have released any new cultivars and is focussing it's buisiness to feminizing their stock. Reading further about the history, the chances that Mr.Nice Seeds, The Sjaman and Dutch Passion are the only ones in posession of the real parent's, or at least clones from the original stock is higher then the other way around...So I'm laying my eggs in three baskets. At least I hope so*. Three versions... A blind test, unbiased...I will set something up where I can't/won't know which is which.
In the end I'm searching for that one I like and that's a personal hunt...using scent, vision and touch to select what I finally want on my plate.

*Tonight I came upon an auction for a White Widow reg at Mr.Nice Seeds which I'm hoping for I will win.

With a bit of luck I can get my hands on that 15-pack of seeds, together with the reg seeds from Ingemar (The Sjaman) and the Dutch Passion Regular seeds, which Antonio is fixing me up, God bless his heart

, I must be able to get myself some nice pheno's to hunt through, even though I don't have a lot of space inside my tent, I'm still gonna go for gold.

The idea is to start the seeds around November 15th in solocups filled with sterile seedling mix. So when today's ladies are harvested I can immediately fill up the tent with a new batch of youngling's.

This will be my first Photo run you guys, so I'm already begging those with the knowledge to help me out as this kind of growing will probably give me all kinds of headaches in the beginning... ie, I've never grown with lights out, so don't know what to do and what to expect VPD (temp/humid) wise...

Ok, now back to this grow...Lights out for those extra special pictures...Kinda burlesque no?

This is what we are after guys...Nice plants, that flower quickly and are full of trichomes...And still a couple of weeks to go...I would guess...Three weeks...

Ok, one more before I show you the time lapse.

Bear in mind that this new camera only takes pictures every one minute against the old one, which could wait 5 minutes before shooting the next... So I've upped the speed to 120fps and the duration = 53 hours. On the plus side...The resolution went from 4000x3000 to 5120x3840 pixels, which should help with the resolution and quality of the images.

Sorry guys, no time lapse today...After four hours of compiling I got a clip which hangs...Not for today anymore. Gonna rest a bit and set an alarm.
