Greetings AFN, I’ve been lurking since my state legalized this summer but this is my first post. Everyone seems friendly here and I like those good vibes vs other forums.

My first grow is Humboldt Seed Company Sour Apple auto. They germinated on 7/8 and I saw the first signs of flower (pistols, came on rapidly) on 7/27. I’ve learned a lot from lurking in these forums though I did make a few mistakes with nutes (not enough and then overcompensated).

At present moment two of the girls fave chunked up drastically over the past week and a half. The chunking seems to have stopped for the most part but they are still taking water (less than normal).

The foxtailing is introducing new growth with clear trichomes and white pistols so it’s a little confusing as when to pull. The other two still look to be about 2 weeks out, but these two are showing signs that they are ready. Are they? They are super dank smelling and crazy sticky!!

Thank you @Swartzeric55! I was thinking the same thing but it’s hard to be patient at this point. I failed to mention that the breeder suggests 75-90 days from germination but these two are really early. That coupled with the trichome progression and foxtailing has me doubting what I was seeing. They also have different nutritional needs than their sisters. Very easily burnt. Can’t wait to taste, this was about a week and a half ago…:peace:

Maybe two weeks maybe a little less depends. If you want it real stoney and couch lock let it keep going for like 3-4wks from the first picture. Also look for the pistils to have gone down

Thank you @mdabber those pics were almost two weeks ago (my bad), I’ll have to take some more this weekend. Almost all calyxes have turned brown/red/purple/pink and receded except for the new foxtail growth. I have medical conditions that make me tired all of the time so definitely don’t want any couch-lock for these specific meds. We are a Sativa household and only go for stereotypical Indica expression for very specific purposes, like pain relief for me right before bed.

I'd recommend drying in a paper bag if you have less than 50 percent rh. It kind of starts the cure in the bag while drying. If I'm air drying like hanging the plant. I like 60rh 60-66f. You can do a hybrid of both and put them in a paper bag when the stems almost crack and the outside of the buds crispy and sweat them for a week or two.

Appreciate it! I have a 2x2 with AC Infinity 4in carbon filter/exhaust and a small oscillating fan setup for drying. This time of year, where it is I get average 59% humidity and 67 degrees F. That’s as good as it will get in my current situation with space limitations. I have Grove Bags for the cure as well. Super excited and appreciate all advice!

Beautiful plants. I am still seeing quite a bit of clear trichomes but keep a close eye on them as some strains can ripen rapidly.

When the trichome are nearly all cloudy the harvest window opens:

Some clear mostly all cloudy = a cerebral, racy high.

All cloudy with 20% amber = a balance mind/body high

All Cloudy with 40% amber = sleepy time/couch lock buzz

All Cloudy with 50% plus amber = over ripe. Yet some different cannabinoids that may be desirable will become more dominant.

Thank you @manogreen! It seems that most of the clear are on the newer growth (foxtailing) hence my confusion. I’m shooting for 15-20% amber. I appreciate the advice everyone. I’m going to monitor closely over the next week. As soon as these are pulled my Mephisto run will begin!

I like it more cerebral too. Don't want to be couched locked,. I like to be able to do stuff hike skate etc. Do you use a vape? Id recommend arizer solo. I'm using mine right now vaping some Crystal Meth from Fast Buds. Lol. If you quit smoking it will stretch your bud farther because it's delivery is more efficient. You can vape on .2 for like 5-10 minutes.
