Live Stoner Chat What are you drinking?

Tonight, in honor of my German friends I am drinking Bitburger. A very crystal clear beer with a slight head that vanishes very quickly. The nose is very nice, noble hops and malt. Smells a little stronger than your typical German pils. The taste at first is very hoppy, the noble hops shine through very well. After the swallow, the malt really comes out strong. Quite surprising as well for a German beer, this is one of the stronger varieties I have tasted and you can tell they didn't cheapen out on the grain bill. Very tasty but be prepared, this isn't a Heineken. Much more flavor and hops.

Well tonight I plan on pulling out the collection so be prepared for a barrage of reviews! Gonna finally get some of those strain reviews I have been promising as well. No work tomorrow = party tonight!

You guys talking strawberry milk have me thirsty.Woops
As for drink of the alcohol sort, a stiff Stoli and cranberry, maybe twice a year.

First of many for tonight, Founder's Dirty Bastard Scotch Ale. For those of you who don't know, you better axe somebody. This is one of my favorite high production beers on the market. Straight outta Michigan where they have to have a little fire in the belly to stay warm in the winter. This beer checks in at an 8.5% ABV. One to the review.
The smell is not as overpowering as one would think. Slightly malty with a smoked peat smell to it just as one would expect. A little hint of caramel.
The pour is a golden brown that puts a nice head on the beer but not too much.
The drink, is exceptionally smooth for such a strong beer. The first taste is sweet sweet caramel, not too much carbonation as to take away from the flavor, as you swallow you begin getting those hints of the alcohol and a slight plum taste. It goes down very smooth, almost too smooth if that is possible. So much so that it makes you want to go back for another quickly. The problem is, you have to watch this one, that high ABV will have you walking crook necked pretty quick.

So tonight, with Oktoberfest coming up, I figured I would break out some Marzen. Here we are with a Paulaner Oktoberfest-Marzen. Pours a nice golden bronze, very clear with a very good head. Smell is slightly malty. Taste is quite thin for an Oktoberfest, a little fruity, quite yeasty with a very slight hoppy bitterness to finish it off. Overall this is one of the lighter Oktoberfest beers I have tasted. It isn't bad so don't take it the wrong way, although it isn't an overwhelmingly strong flavor profile it is still an excellent beer. ABV ticks in around 5.8% so it is has the grains they just don't shine through as much in the flavor. A little less fermenting and this one would probably have a great mouth feel to it. Regardless, who am I to tell the Germans how to brew an Oktoberfest. I will keep drinking.
