I ordered 2 oscillating fans this summer. I'm just now starting to use them.
One is quiet and the other noisy when oscillating.
Is this a defect?

Yeah if it's new enough to return I would try. I have one that started doing that exact thing and has been fine for awhile now but it was one of the first ones I had and pretty sure it is out of warranty. I have 2 others that are quiet

One of mine does that too, rattles when oscillating, I think I'll contact the place where I bought it.

Just checked my second fan and it's doing the same, not as loud though, they warn about not leaving them on oscillating constantly.

I just realized it's a two year hassle free warranty I'm going to try to get mine replaced.

Probably, ac is pretty good about customer service, hit up their warranty department with your recipt and they will ship a new one out within a week and you can still keep the noisy one
