My friend recently harvested their plant. Hung it to dry waited until the stems snapped, then put in the jars to cure. (the buds are very dry almost crumble when you touch them) It has been a week one of his other friends tried it and said it wasn't that good. It didn't even give him a buzz.

Apparently the strain is really good. Ice from Nirvana

He is still curing it, he thinks that's the problem. Everyday he opens the jars twice for an hour or so to let them breathe/burp

But reading from the forums there some people who quick dry it and it still turns out to be great. So what could be the issue?

It takes about 3-4 weeks of curing for all the THC to turn into a Psychoactive form. Allow it some time to cure the buzz should catch up to it.

pictures of teh bud would be great.. also teh variety and some grow info (especially if it was flowered for too long, or flowered under 6500k lighhts alone for example.. red spectrum is necessary to build quality thc rather than only cbds).. if it's dry, then the heat of burning should convert teh thc into a viable form... if teh buds were grown too close tohotlights, teh thc could have been destroyed.. there's many reasons, but mostly his friend could have already been high, or else prefers couch-lock cbd rich strains.. it's almost subjective especially with such a small referential sampling...(1 person)

Thanks fellas. Apparently it was grown outdoors, then brought in for a week or two because of the first frost date. Once it was brought in no lights were used. Just natural sun light
Not sure if they were taken down early or too late. I'll see off I can get pics.

Got a source on that? It degrades over time, but it's psychoactive right off the plant.

Honestly there's just too many factors we don't know about. No idea how he grew it, when he harvested, and it sounds like he let the buds get too dry. You don't want them crumbly when they go into the jar.

Do you guys usually wait until the stem snaps, then put them in the jars now?

Pics: Apparently taken with flash doesn't look as good in real life.

Yes...ish. I like to clip them off the stem right before it gets to that point, then burp the jars until I get it down to about 65% humidity.

I have the same problem. I suck at curing. I have many jars and they have no good flavor. After I smoke the smell is there, smells great but no flavor. Here's what I do.. After I trim the buds I hang them in a home made Rubbermaid tub (ill get a pic of it later). After 2-3 days depending on the bud, if its dense or airy it's dry, sometimes too dry, it's crumbly so I cut the buds off the stems and put them jars. I burp once maybe twice a day for a week or so just depending on the density of the bud or weather it's still moist when I put them into jars. Most of the time the good smell goes away and I know that it's not turning out right. I'm guessing its drying way too fast. I probably need to cover my 2 holes on the dry box to prevent a lot of airflow. I wait until the stem snaps but at that point my buds are usally too dry. So at the stage when my buds go into jars, what should they be like? Should the buds be slightly moist or have more of a dry feel? At what point should I not open the jars anymore and what should the smell and the moistness/dryness should it be at before I decide not to burp anymore? I have many jars with not so good tasting weed, it's too late for those but maybe I can save that from happening to my next plant.
