I’m pretty sure I had one of my seedlings die from damping off. My question is do I need to dump the entire 5 gallon pot and start with new soil?

i would suggest not,, just scoop out a handful and replace with fresh to re-plant in

Also make sure the seedlings are warm and humid. Damping off occurs in cool moist environments.

Welcome to AFN. The organisms that can cause Damping off are ever present in some population. what triggers damping off is creating the environment that encourages their very rapid growth Temp and RH too high. Lack of fresh air. Weak seedling, not all of our babies make it.

No you do not need to throw it out. Just let it dry down to needing water and water like any other pot until you need it.

If your soil ever gets disease like wilts and other virus that is when you need to sterilize it or chuck it.
