Take 2... Man! don't you just flipping hate it when you have written loads and then loose it all...
First of all big shout out and a huge thank you to @StickMan and @tobe for letting me test some of their wonderful and interesting genetics. Really excited for the two strains you have gifted me, and real nice to be stepping away from the mass produce seed market for a change, thank you.
I get ask a lot about how I grow in coco so I thought for this journal I would also document my growing style from seed to chop. How I use my nutes, additives, folia sprays, training, ppm's and all that jazz... kinda grow along with Slater or at your own convenience at a future date.
Well lady's and gentlemen let get this grow on the road...
from the loft garden.
The line up for this grow
First up we have...
MoB (mother of berries)
here's what healing path have to say about the strain...
Mother of berries (MoB) S3
Mother of Berries, Maine Own Blueberry
Breeders notes: I acquired S2 MoB fems from Krk of Highrise Seeds who gave them to me to help keep this very rare in pure form strain. Here is Krk’s description of MoB.
MoB is a heirloom clone only from Maine. Unknown origin, unknown genetics. It’s early outside, but not auto. At this point in inbreeding it seems not to have the lowryder trait. It’s mostly indica, it’s blueberry for sure, it’s genetic make up surely contains something purple. It has a nice well rounded long lasting high.
Genetics: Unknown origin, unknown genetics. Blueberry x ?
Height: 91-275 cm depends on grow conditions.
Growth Pattern: Medium to tall height, bushy structure with multiple lateral branches suitable for topping and low stress training. Very dense flowers.
Harvest: MoB can be harvested in as little of 45 days of 12/12
Aroma/Flavour: Sandalwood, Berry, Blueberry, Bubblegum, Hash, Musk, Strawberry, Raspberry, Dairy, Pine-berry, Loganberry, Blueberry muffins. Always fruity. Initially a sweet berry, cherry blossom and light hashy flavour fills your mouth on the inhale, making you salivate with the anticipation of what is to come. The smoke then expands in the lungs clearing ones airways showing MoB may suit patients with breathing difficulties, with the exhale comes thick plumes of vape which taste of yummy Strawberry yoghurt.
Every pull from the vape brings a new berry flavour moving from Raspberry to Pine-berry to Blueberry and always with this thick creamy tone in the background. Tokin’ a nice bowl on the vape is like working your way through a tasty bowl of tutti frutti ice cream.
Yield: Heavy
Reported Effects and Medical Benefits: creativity, pain relief, anti-anxiety, anti-depressant, appetite booster, helps with insomnia, aphrodisiac.
My mouth is already watering for that berry flavor... And for the second headliner we have a brand new cross and man it's a mouth full... so here we go...
(AoF/Sensi Star) x CBD Haze auto fems, F1
Its so brand new I have very little on it bar the AoF... which comes with and awesome story
Aunt of Farouk (AoF)
Aka: Wild Pakistan
The seeds were given to me by Lala’s friend Farouk over the last 40 years. He had collected them in a small village behind his aunt and uncle’s house. Lala has smoked the hash from the village a couple of times, and it hits hard. There might be a hint of some indian sativa in these but we’re not sure. When Farouk asked his uncle he just says, that they sow, harvest and smoke. He has his stash in his backyard and thats all that counts for him.
The seeds were made with open pollination, so there should be multiple phenotypes hiding in there for the treasure hunter, including a berry pheno.
AOF prefers to be grown the organic way… as they do in pakistan, and you should keep an eye on the top leaves for too much N… They might claw pretty fast and in that case you should use clean water the next couple of times you are feeding.
Mostly Indica
Smell: From berries to burnt rubber
Taste: Earthy, sweet, hashy
Flowering: 9-10 weeks
Genetics: Wild Pakistani strain
... right! ... lets hope we get a pheno leaning towards the AoF
Time to get down to the business of growing...the grow room weapons for this round
Tent - 4 x 3 x 5
Medium - coco
Lights - 450w of diy leds, a mix of COB's and QB's
Food -
Full Remo line up
Urb
Eco thrive Charge and Biosys
Mammoth P
Great White
In veg they will be on a flood and drain system and in flower we shall be using a run to waste system.
Starting the seeds
To start with I decide to pop all the AoF/sensi cross, the reason being... words from the breeder
The (AoF/Sensi Star) x CBD Haze auto fems are Photo (female) x auto (reversed female) F1s.
So, should only be less than 25% auto phenos pop up. However, I did have 2/3 Z6/Harle-Tsu x CBD Haze auto fem F1s auto on me last spring for my OD crop, which is not typical. Hit one of the auto phenos with AoF pollen, but have yet to pop any.
So I popped all 5 to be safe seen as I'm looking for photo's on this run. Want to be able to clone one of these, could be just medicine my misses is looking for....I only popped 3 of the MoB to start with.
To start my seed off I like to soak them for 24hrs in a small amount of RO water, this time round I decide to add a 1ml of Urb to the soaking... heres what Urb has to say about it...
dilute around 1-2 ml in a cup of water and soak. Do a Google search on “Trichoderma harzianum seed treatment” to find out that “Seed treatment with Trichoderma Harzianum alleviates biotic, abiotic, and physiological stresses in germinating seeds and seedlings. Trichoderma are endophytic plant symbionts that are widely used as seed treatments to control diseases and to enhance plant growth and yield.” concentrated at 12% do for seed treatments. “Humic acid causes an activation -at an embryonic level – of the metabolic and enzymatic processes that assure a better and more immediate development of the embryo-plant.”
Couldn't hurt so why not try it, we shall see what results it brings, if I can see any.
After 24hrs I placed them into their own individual damp paper towels
Labeled and place into food grade plastic bags
Into a DVD case
Then placed at the top of my tent where its nice and warm... since placing it at the top of my tent I've been getting faster results, must be the perfect temps for them up there.
End of Part one...
