Yea...in my experience once you get used to working in your environment, with your water, etc...you know whats going on. I check my ph maybe once every two weeks (randomly) just to make sure I don't get any surprises from my well water. Its never fluctuated in the two years we've lived here...but I'm paranoid.
For the record...both my ph up and down solutions have never been opened. 
The reason it doesn't show up in the "forum search" may have to do with the fact that thread is a "sticky". I'm not positive..but just a thought.

10th Year Anniversary
I am currently smoking my second grow. This one yielded about 1.5 ounces. I really tried to take care of it, and made sure it was happy... and I got what is a reasonable yield.What does "finally" mean, Feenix? Third grow? Ten years? I'm happy for ya, I think I'll get all hot and bothered if my first plant produces enough to actually roll up!

i cheaped out with the yellow ph pen at £3 on ebay and a ppm pen at £7...but no matter the cost of the pen you gonna have to spend another £30 on the cal./storage/cleaning fluids.
even if you dont adjust ph if you have a ph pen it must get regular use/cal or it will do doolally.
