Take a strain from MG and give it to a newbie and also a master.

The rookie (me!) tests his flower and its 10% THC.

Master does the same and his or hers is 25% THC.

Squish them both using the same press and operator.

I know yield per gram will likely be different. But when you dab or vap the two rosin, can you tell the difference in potency? Or does pressing equal potency out?

Also, is the genetics of a strain, and the phenos, easy to pick out when you dab rosin? Like can you tell the difference between the effects of the med on your body and mind when using extracted rosin? I'm assuming you can, but just had to ask the question. I'm just starting to do rosin.

budelee does, Full Duplex does. I do. Son of Hobbes does.

Hey brother, Rosin is a finicky bitch sometimes. It is strain dependent, Meaning that even the best, highest thc percentage wont press for nothing! What you put in, you get back 10 fold, meaning the higher thc content SHOULD press with a higher percentage in the finished concentrate. CBD also makes a big difference in how the high hits you. You and I can sit down and smoke out together, but it always seems that someone else gets the highest or higher out of the group. Simply put, different cannabinoids with hit each individuals differently. Yes, you should approach the rosin for the first time user, like edibles. A little dab will do ya starting out, but if you are one of those fellas that wants to get flat out baked, work your way up to it. Take a small dab and see how it hits ya. If you dont get where you need to be, take another small dab. Problem being, we have all taken that one dab that can wreck your day! Lol. You will work up a tolerance with concentrates and flower wont get you high much. Like everything in life, there should be a balance. If you find that you cant even get a buzz off the rosin you press, take a break for a week or two and switch to edibles or back off a bit on everything. Lowering your tolerance will make you like a first time dabber all over again. I understand that people use concentrates for pain management or other health reasons, so listen to your body. I have had several 70% thc concentrates and they will get you flat out blasted and for a longer amount of time, than a 85-90% thc concentrate will. All the other cannabinoids play a huge factor and everyones system is different. Happy hunting for what gets you where you need to be!
Thanks, briman

Higher quality bud will make higher quality rosin. I guess you could destroy thc if you pressed at to high of a temp, but pressing doesn't increase or decrease by pressing alone. I will warn you dabbing has ruined smoking bud regularly. Smoking just tastes like ash, don't get anywhere as high from smoking (which is expected) as I use to. Don't get me wrong dabbing is the shit, but I can't just smoke a bowl anymore not the same, kinda weak lol. You need to figure out which strains press well. Best so far, by far that i found is Ripleys OG INSAINE rosin! Sour Bubblin Crack doesn't press for shit, very runny. Grape Crinkle is another good 1 great flavor. Heard Double Grape is super frosty. Frostier the better normally, but there are exceptions to every rule. If you can try pressing fresh cut bud. You need to freeze it, and it will be very wet from the steam from pressing wet bud but that will give you the best flavor. Give it a try.

So it sounds like for every strain, and even maybe for every plant you grow, you should do a dry run press to see what its like. I was thinking, madly, that I'd chop a plant, dry it, shred it somehow and make pucks and squish the whole load as efficiently as possible. Thanks for that warning right there. And for the smoking vs dabbing tolerance thing. I am 100% on board for ditching smoke at this stage.

I have a Skywalker that has great frost by my standards and almost ready and 2 sour livers that are looking good too. One could spend a lifetime playing with all the gear and rosin.

Interested in high CBD rosin. And all the other cannabinoids purity that you get with rosin. I'm looking way more forward to tasting and all the affects that come with rosin. I'm sure every new rosin convert says this, but I can't see smoking much more at all. Edibles for sure. Now rosin for sure.

Just thought I’d throw in the strains I’ve pressed out and which worked well for me and what didn’t.
Sour Stomper- not a great yielder for me but gave great tasting, shattery rosin.
3 bears OG- ok yield, good flavor. I liked the smoke more.
Beary White- better yield, lost a bit of her tangerine flavs.
Double Grape- presses and tastes great.
CDLC- mine didn’t press well at all. Left a super watery rosin that was a pain to collect and dab. But ridiculously good flower.
Trident Special- awesome all around rosin.
The White Train- presses pretty well, nice light color with great lemon flavors.

Off to take one. Happy squishing!

As soon as my 2 I chopped Monday and Tuesday are do e drying I will be doing a Fastbuds CBD Crack. Which I will then do rosin from. I will let you know as soon as I can press. Around late July I'm thinking.

I would think it would be down to each phenotype not each plant. I have no evidence just my thinking. Unless you mess the plant up, I would think all Ripleys OG that are dank as fuck and smell like hot sick like mine will make great rosin. This was twice as sticky as anything else I have grown. Here is some rosin from it at very low temp like 190 or so. It was like a paste or what I would think was similar to crumble. Never had it, but when made this I thought that may be why they call it that. Another temp gave me what looked like crack rocks. Very stable stuff.
