Cheap hard water filter should help out alot?

I've been looking, and I may see if the landlord would be cool with me renting a water softener for the house. It looks to already have the water pipes plumbed in the garage for it, they just have a flex pipe running from the inlet pipe to the outlet pipe with no softener currently. Softer water would in theory extend life of the water heater, dishwasher, etc... so hard to think of why if the plumbing is already in place a landlord would be against it.

I may also look at setting up a similar system to what I was using in my closet cannabis grows here with a feed reservoir with a built in Berkey carbon filter setup feeding a bunch of Blumats to simplify keeping up with the watering demand a little with how fast I'm sure soil dries out in the desert. Have to read up on Berkey's and hard water, though.
Dunno yet...still day dreaming on how I want to set things up. Need to go have another creativity booster dab of some shatter soon.

Was looking around the 'Net for something to control some misters with and stumbled across this neat looking tech. Thought I'd share as I'm sure some cannabis grower somewhere with lots-o-money to blow on trying new, different shit out will want to give it a try someday. Though I don't know that cannabis is the right plant for it, as I'm not sure a constant wet/dry cycle is optimal, but I'm sure some master grower will have some thoughts on it.

This is an "Electronic Leaf". Per the description, the little membrane part that sticks out will move down when it gets heavy enough with water from the misters, and switch them off. When enough water has evaporated it raises back up and turns things back on. Supposed to simulate a leaf drying out and then getting misted when it's all the way dry.

The bad news....casual look at the listings it appears to run for around $300 USD.

That seems like a great way to spend 300 smackers on some tech that can tell you what a semi-experienced grower would have learned to recognize on their own, no? I mean...it just kinda kills me how much random new "tech" there is in the cannabis industry. Some is awesome...some not so much, lol.

I have these beautiful amnesia autos that are not going into flower. So my wife said she gets the old tent to finish them up under. I said fair enough. here is some pictures of them. This happened once before years ago I chopped them back then she never forgot it LOL.
