Hi guys, I just joined AFN a few days ago and wanted to share my first real attempt at growing real genetics and quality seeds.

This is my second attempt at this plant, I had two seeds and screwed the first one up by mistake. We went out to play for the day and the baby girl dried out and never recovered. So here I am with attempt number 2 and decided to do it here for all to see and comment on my mistakes, also for some advice.

So let's get to it. I popped the seeds in water the last day of 2017 and it took about 2 1/2 days to have a tail long enough to pop it into a little Jiffy. This time I kept an eye on the moisture and its just about ready in my opinion to plant into it's final smart/fabric 20L or about 5.2 gal pot which is filled with with a mix of roughly 60-70 coco peat and perlite. I am not yet 100% sure which nutrients I'm going to use, but was thinking BioBizz Grow and end of this month get the BioBizz Bloom and some Seagrow (fish mixture) and Kelpak which I've been using too. I also have Advanced Hydro of Holland the Dutch Formula which I was also considering.

I will be going later today to get the nutrients and hope to get this baby potted as soon as the shell has dropped. Will also attempt to put up some pics so you can see where I'm currently with this seed.

If any of you have suggestions or recommendations, or advice, please don't hesitate. I need to learn and the help would be much appreciated.

I just spoke to a guy in my region about nutrients for this grow and he suggested I use somethong they stock called Nutriplex which is a 3 part nutrient. After some discussion he told me that it's about the same thing as the Advanced Hydroponics of Holland - Dutch Formula, so I will be using what I have and hopefully it will grow well.

I also put this lady in the larger 20L 5.2Gal smart pot and cut the Jiffy material right off before planting. Watered it a little adding a very small amount of mixed nutrients with some of the water I used to get the coco nice and damp.

Could someone please let me know how long they usually take for the seed to open up and show it's first leaves? I put my baby in a shot glass 31 December and yesterday I just helped the shell off cause it looked like it was just barely touching the plant. This is now very close to two weeks and it's scaring me a little cause I know they don't have a long time to do their thing.

Any advice on helping it along?

Thanks

coco is quite a bit different than soil.it takes a bit more work, and ph pens,ec/tds meter are kinda essential.some brands need rinsing off others need pre charged with cal mag.
i really didnt/dont want to scare you off.soil is a bit easier to wing it so to speak.
im a bit of an eejit, you need proper coco grower help, some equipement and to read up.sorry.
a seed should pop up in a few days 7 max,as this is touching 2 weeks i cant see a recovery but ohh want to be wrong.
soil would be my advice to get a grow under your belt,if a smoke of your own is the ultimate goal.
sorry again for the negativeness, good luck.

I have a grow or two under my belt outdoor in soil, you are probably not the eejit you think hehehe. This seed was put in water for about 48 hours before it split open and the root came out, then I put it in a Jiffy pellet which I soaked in RO water and a few drops of Kelpak. I really don't see where I could've screwed up so badly. I have also seen with other plants I've had that they are very hardy plants, maybe not the autos so much.

I have said that I'd put up a pic, but I will definitely try and do that today.

Here is my baby, day 16 after popping it in a shot glass for germination.

I have moved this little lady outside in the sun and will be moving it inside and outside daily to get the most sun and some light for the other hours to get to about 18 hours light a day. Hope she starts to pick up and explode is size.

Let me know what you think and any advice will be appreciated.

Nice to see she is through and welcome to the AFN family

I saw in your first post that you had a failed attempt on your first run so let's try to get you through a successful grow

Can I ask?

Will this be an outdoor grow?

I would be very sparing with water at this stage. We want her to be forced to seek out feed/water so she gets a good root zone which is the key to a healthy plant

I'll keep checking in to see how things are going :bong:

Thank you for getting this grow diary going and I'll be along for the ride and watching with interest mate!

All the best

Mark..

I have an update on my little lady. She has started to come right and by the looks of it hungry for something. I'm thinking Cal Mag? The reason for thinking that is that I've heard that growing in Coco you need to be on point with the Cal Mag because of the coco not having anything in it for the plant.

Any suggestions and advice welcome as always. I'm very new to growing, growing in coco and autos in general. Wouldn't want to screw this up cause I'm looking forward to the end product and have high hope for this plant.

Thanks AFN
