Thats just some of the best bud porn! Amazing colas.
Thank you so much Dudeski! It wasn't the most resinous or outrageously potent herb I have ever grown, but even I was surprised by the size of the flowers and overall dry weight. I'd like to give her a shot some time again here in the future with some proper training, and a bit more individualized attention. I'd reeeeallllly like to see if I cant hit that 3 lb. per light mark, or even get that one pounder autoflower badge out of the way.... We'll see! I'm currently playing around with other projects, but as always that is certainly subject for change!
I was planning on posting a bunch of pictures and an update this evening from the phenohunting project, but this guy is a total spundito and left my phone back on the farm and I won't be able to grab it for a few days, so that update is just going to have to wait for a bit I'M SORRY!
But just to give y'all a bit of a verbal update, everything is going reeealllllly really well. We are nearing the 30 day from sprout mark, and things are really beginning to explode. The first Two and a half weeks or so from seed felt like they took forever with very little growth to show for it, but just in the past week all of the ladies have more than made up for lost time. Just about everything has at the very least doubled, tripled, or in some cases quadrupled in size since last weekend. With co2 coasting at ~1500 ppm and the environment totally dialed in (finally), growth rates have been downright frightening, with notable growth with each passing day.
As of this morning, about 95% of the original batch of plants has shown sex, and just about half of those have gone into full fledged flowering mode, exploding with pistils at every node. Males were culled out, and about 75% of them were destroyed. The 25 or so keepers that I decided to stick with are being grown out on another floor of the house for further selection. At this rate, I'd say I will have likely narrowed it down to my final four pollen donors (one from each variety) within the next week or two, once I get a better feel for the flowering structure of each and I can get a better idea of which is going to be the best representation of the traits that I find most desirable in each cross.
As of right now...
-Blulight (Blueberry headband x Headlights Kush [Haze pheno]) has been the slowest to show sex, and is also the most sativa dominant structure wise. Plants are growing into nice little Christmas trees with an obvious dominant terminal branch. Almost all have shown sex, but only a few of the bunch are really going into flower. Once I'm for sure of the sex of each, I will hit them with a quick dose of Methyl Jasminate and alfalfa tea to blast them into bloom mode. Expect some of that next week!
-Northbound Train (Headlights Kush [Kush Phenotype] x Fantasmo Express) was the slowest grower right off the bat. In comparison to the other three strains that I am running, this one seemed to stay very short and squat, and didn't appear to be the most vigorous in veg.To me it looked more like a Kush leaning plant than the classic sativa Christmas tree that I was hoping for, and well.... there is plenty of reason for that. Initially I intended to run my FEX x HLK [Haze pheno], and it was not until this week that I realized that I popped the wrong batch of beans, and I popped the kushy phenotypes instead.... and I am really happy that mistake was made. Until last week, things stayed short and growth was rather unimpressive. This polyhybrid was the first to show sex (at about 6 inches tall), and I was about ready to call it a wash. There was no way in hell that the plants would fill out to a desirable size when they went into flower so quickly and at such a small size, right? Once again, she proved me wrong.....
As soon as she stared to flower, an incredible change in pace occurred, and she began growing at an asinine rate. First they doubled in size, then tripled, and are now still reaching upward and outward, looking to quadruple in size from the onset of flower, all in a week to 10 days time. Most growers hate the stretch, but in this case it was an absolute blessing. Those tiny little nodes that were packed tight under the large kush leaves all grew into their own flower bearing branches, and plants went from looking like a little beeb, to a beautiful small/medium height Autoflower with many branches competing with the terminal cola , quickly growing into spears. Flowering growth has by far been the fastest with this one, not only with onset, but with overall development as well. Plants went from showing presex, to being fully loaded with pistil puff balls, stacking tightly together in about 3 days time.
What I was going to trash, I now see a world of opportunity in. This lady may make for an awesome Auto SOG variety in a 16 or 25 plant configuration. It stays small and manageable in early veg, allowing you to stuff tons under each light, and saving energy, but makes it well worth your time in flower apparently. Best mistake ever....
-***Unnamed***AutoMazar x Headlights Kush [Haze Pheno] was off to a rocky start. I used two batches of seeds to get this one going, from two different Mazar mothers, because one batch of the seeds (from mother M8) expressed some hermaphroditic traits, and other than a couple of beautiful pollen sack free females, she was trashed and will not be used as a breeder.... The other batch (from mother M9) is doing muuuuuch better, and is growing some pretty damn beautiful plants. Plants were vigorous in veg, and gave the grower about 18-25 days to play with and manipulate before showing sex (I generally like longer veg times, as it often equates to larger branchier plants). Plants are now all showing sexual organs, and getting into game mode fast. Some are flowering faster than others, and there is a little bit of range in size, but overall things appear pretty uniform. Found some awesome males, and some females that are currently beginning to "wow" me. Plants are extremely branchy and vigorous, growing into the most beautiful medium/tall Afghanica Christmas trees, with a little extra internodal length from her Sativa dominant father. It is truly the best of both worlds. An increased internode length, along with slightly thinner leaves than the Mazar, allows for better light penetration to the under canopy, and judging by the number of flowering sites on plants thus far, I'd say that she certainly has the potential to be a heavy yielder (But let's not put carts before horses right?). Already filling my room with a sweet and musky Affie stank! Really excited for this one.
Last but certainly not least....
-***Unnamed*** Dinafem White Widow XXL x Headlights Kush [Kushy pheno] Just like her mother, the famous WW, this polyhybrid definitely airs more on the indica leaning side of things, growing plants into nice rounded, bushes with tonnnnnns of little branches and very large fan leaves. She would be a perfect plant to train, LST, leaf tuck, and prune, but I chose to grow these ladies 100% au naturale as to get a feel for her natural growth style. These ladies have just shown sex in the last week or so, but have not really gone into flower from there. At first I was absolutely stoked by this elongated veg time, but now it has me mildly worried that this selection may be more of a short season photoperiod plant than a true autoflower. I'd be incredibly disappointed, but worst case scenario I move them into my photoperiod room and flower them out and use them as an outdoor strain for all of my guerrilla warriors next spring.
REALLY hoping she gets her ass in gear, because I am in love with how she is growing, and the sweet skunky smell she is currently giving off in preflower.
Will know in the next week what the game plan is with this one....
Hope everybody's week is going quick and smoothly and your gardens are green!
Got my Artisanal Automatics package from mephisto last week, along with a bunch of Mephisto Regs from the homie
@gbd for a late entry into the fundraiser/raffle that they held a few months ago on Instagram..... that I totally missed...... Thanks again for everything guys! Can't wait to get them growing!!!!
