Completed RQS Special Queen Photo - Special Queen Shania - First "Successful" Grow

30.jpg
ok so, this is my first grow, second journal. I know.. doesn't make much sense, but it actually does. I busted my phone's memory card and lost most of my grow's pictures, but I just managed to recover a few of them, and I want to make a point of documenting all my grows, as long as it ends in harvest. Thanks AFN by the way for giving me a safe place to document my progress.

This baby girl was the last seed of a batch I bought from RQS, and it was my last chance as all other 9 seeds grew to end up stunted and dying. Well, learning curve.
Working with my 3 gallon root pouch, I like this fabric pot.

Tent 80x80x160cm
BestVA 600w reflector
2x 15w fans
dehumidifier

Biobiz lightmix + a bit of my homemade compost

Water -> Pre-boiled bottled water PH6.39

Seedling Stage

Ok, the format of this journal will be slightly different, as I never expected this last chance plant to grow. It ended up being my best grow out of the 2.
So one page more or less for each stage will do, but with a bit more details. I might not be exact on the dates, which is why I'll keep it by week.

The seed was sowed during the last week of november in the RQS starter kit. A small plastic chamber with lights, soil, and a bit of powder to make a solution helping root development.
At that time, I still had my first one bud plant finishing is flowering, and as I never give up on a grow whatever happens (except death). So while the seedling was ready to be transplanted in its root pouch, I let it in the starter kit for an extra week while my one bud plant finished. RH 70% Temp 20 celsius.

Beginning of december I "chopped" off my one bud plant, or snapped of more like, and it was time for transplant for my Special Queen Shania #1. Good timing, because roots already starting to come out. Transplant done with almost no stress. This is the end of week 2.

Vegetative Stage

After hibernating for a week, and the transplant, it started shooting up very quickly. She seemed to love that warm oceanic winter weather.

Week 3 - Vegetative Stage

Watering was a bit hesitant, I still have issues getting the feel of it. Weighing or wet finger don't really do it for me, I gotta feel everything. Gave it about 25 oz water every 2 days or so.

AVG 80% 18.5 celsius

Week 6 - Vegetative Stage

I can see big arse leaves growing, maybe due to the plant wanting to grow big reserves of food (low temps)
No pest issues, no deficiency, no nute burn (I would be amazed with what I'm using)

Debated on whether to top it, but decided against it considering my experience. And as it's the first time something in my tent looks actually like a plant, I will go natural all the way. That will serve me as a base experience.

AVG 75% 19 celsius

Week 7 - Vegetative Stage

Ok getting to the end of veg stage, and she's growing at a mad speed. Gonna do a bit of defoliation in week 8 (especially with them big leaves) starting from the bottom. Not yet done on the pic.

Already I can see flowers starting. Man plans...
But nature's the boss.

Flowering Stage

February, winter time, I need a dehumidifier. Sorted a 10L a day one with 40 50 and 60 setting. Took the 6 biggest fan leaves off.

Transition to bloom light schedule was gradual, even though she started early.

Week 9 - Flowering Stage

Little flowers shaping up. Bought a dehumidifier and switched it on to 50.

AVG 50% 20 celsius

Week 10 - Flowering Stage

This is all going very nicely. It is the first grow that I seem to handle well so I'm really excited.

But geez, some rusty colored spots have appeared from nowhere.. Hard to see on the pictures although one is easily identifiable on the second picture, bottom right corner leaf. Could be a deficiency of sort or some sort of funghi?!?

Week 11 - Flowering Stage

Rusty spots are spreading.. Scratched the surface of a few of em and nothing rubbed off on my fingers, no powder. So at least it's not funghi.
Probably a deficiency of K or P, as it started from the bottom slowly up to the top (not there yet) and no symptoms on new growth. On top of that the only thing it gets as feed is some treated banana water which adds a tiny bit more of both nutrients cited above.

Evidence is now obvious on the second photo on the leaves below. They were taken off after the picture was taken anyways with 5 others.

Week 12 - Flowering Stage

Rusty spots are still there, but there is less spreading now. Topfed some banana powder and it helped a bit. Did not notice ,uch of a stretch but rather regular growing.

After 4 and a half month of hard work, it was a pleasure to get such a beautiful plant to maturity.. Only got me 23 grams of dried fruit plus 6 grams of trim with which I got a nice dab.

Peace
