Indoor Sweet Skunk Auto & Tangelo Rapido Auto - Kush's Low Budget Grow

Cutting the fabric of the Jiffy pellets sounds like a smart move, but I am too disappointed with the Jiffy's in general and will probably never use them again.
Planting directly in soil is so much hassle-free - you skip a step that way and this is a good thing for lazy people like myself, lol.

Auto roots move fast so not slowing them down is best.
Absolutely.
Also, autoflowering plants have a short life span, so it is best not to stunt the growth of their roots - we simply have no time to waste waiting for the roots to penetrate the Jiffy membrane.
I guess Jiffy's are OK for photoperiod plants, but in my book they are not advisable for autos.

Today I completed my DIY LED panel - 15 bulbs, 10W each for a total of 150 from the wall. Very happy with the result so far.
All the components (bulbs, board, sockets, cables, drill bits, screws, etc.) cost me a total of 36.13 US dollars and I have some leftovers that I can use for other projects.
I think 36.13 US dollars for a LED panel is a reasonable price - the cheapest commercial panel runs at $65. And there is the added benefit of keeping myself occupied with an entertaining DIY project.

Base board with sockets installed. I did a messy job wiring all the sockets, but who cares about looks anyway? It's all about functionality :)

Lights switched on - a floor test run. Wow, this shit is bright!

Whole LED panel hung in the box:

I put some white printing paper sheets on the floor of the grow box. The white improved the overall light inside dramatically.

So, let's see how the girls will like my new light fixture.

Nice job on your light bro. Try to keep it 16 to 18 inches above your girls . Another good thing about using led bulbs you can upgrade to better bulbs as technology advances . If you can download a lux app on your phone you can raise or lower your light till your around 40000 to 50000 lux that is what my ladies seem to like.

The zipper on my DIY grow box is starting to fall apart. Will try to look for alternatives. Velcro?

Anyway, here are some pics of the Sweet Skunk which now has a few brown pistils. Wonder if it will bulk up more than this...
My next grow will be only Sweet Skunk plants, without Jiffy bullshit and in fabric smart pots under LED. Hope this would produce larger plants with heavier nugs.

@Kush what the name of those sockets. They look easy to wire up. @Tommy boy any idea ?

In my language they are colloquially called "straight sockets for wall", not sure what they are called in English. They are just regular E27 sockets that can be attached to a flat surface. There is another variety of these where they are sloped and the bulbs stay at an angle.
Wiring them up is indeed easy, but kind of tedious (like any other repetitive job). I had to wire 15 of them and for a lazy person, like myself, it was a chore.
