First step to heaven...building my dream

WELCOME TO MY DIARY

hello everybody, hope you are all good and safe.

i made this diary to share my passion for Grow LED, share the knowledge and my vision of led growing
Also made this diary to get your help from all of you :D

This is my first grow, my first time i use tools, first time as well doing electricity stuff, so i would love you to be kind and helpfull, for the others ....get some pop corn a lets do some fun!

This part will focus on BUILDING MY LIGHT

Its been 2 years now i ordered from Cutter many led strip with 3 channels tunnable : https://www.cutter.com.au/product/sol-strip-br-nic/
i never had space or time to do my dream grows, i moved from a flat to an other ect ect...but .... ITSSSS TIMMMME lady and gentleman:
sstdwg-1.jpeg

i wanted to be able to make Vegetativ and Flower stage with the same light, i also wanted to go on a spectrum witch aproach the most from the Real Sun light
That why i went on Nichia 757 Led , they are 1w each at 1amp , and has an amazing serie called "optisolis", especialy the 5000k@ 97 cri . more info here : https://www.cutter.com.au/led-technology/nichia-optisolis/
i show you their spectrums :

sunlight spectrum:
nlight.jpeg

Nichia 757 optisolis 5000k97cri ( so beautifuuulllll, got everything hmmmm, could put that in poster in my gaming room :D )
OPTISOL5KSPEC.jpeg

i Choose the cree xd16 @3500 , those tiny beast goes to 6w each, and will help me provide penetration,
also choose the nichia 757@2000k and some cree xpe2 730 nm for the emersson effect and also to promote leaf grow for the autoflower seeds ;)
each strip has 108 led and can go up to 120w , but i will use them at max 75w each :)
for resuming we have 2 kind of led strip with 3 channel each ( hold tight, its become tricky ^^):

6 x strip :
1st channel 48x nichia 757 optisolis @5k @ 48v
2nd channel 48x nichia 757 optisolis @5k @ 48v
3rd channel : 12x cree xpe2 730 nm @ 28v

4x strip :
1st channel 48x nichia 757 @2000k @ 48v
2nd channel 48x nichia 757 @2000k @ 48v
3rd channel : 12x cree xd16 @3500k @ 36v

SO, i will make 2 structure with 5 led strip each structure size is : 60cm x 75cm / 23,6 "x 29,52"
each structure will have 3 led strip with the nichia optisolis 5k and 2 led strip with the nichia @2k.

let go for the build, i repeat , i never touched tools in my life, im a freaking geek witch dont know how to use his hands, im scare about doing electrical part, but with your help, it will be possible :

first step, make the structure, i use 20/20 profile and some beasty heatsink from steveled https://www.stevesleds.com/HD-Heatsink--24-610mm-Length-_p_390.html, they can handle 120w of heat without problems :) :

155209457_765528307486645_2460583251824052425_n.jpg

155016708_895523334596080_2563687747414911725_n.jpg

then add the heatsink ans strips:
155281676_3663651633704542_6334178104371831015_n.jpg

3d print holder was so tight, its gonna be a war, but i did it:
154135426_179759316985127_8699036810822675936_n.jpg

155184020_286251062846518_864811056671339266_n.jpg

and there is the work :D
154630295_1116971922087615_6782138574548375643_n.jpg

lets duplicate that:
155086564_183178516573889_6014388689578508606_n.jpg

Lets do some cable management, each structure has 30 wires....sometime i dont know why i started such a project....
bought big box to contain all the wire inside, lets drill some heatsink's holes, then screw the box on top of the middle heatsink's strip:

160811025_187006986263232_7826335141023402708_n.jpg

lets make some cable management:
161435014_485247202839336_5982178478180638634_n.jpg

....took me 4 hours to do that....im so bad with my hand, let clean it out :

160999449_617994799064754_533031579315113002_n.jpg

ok its start to look well:

161067059_438697770746667_4929765674108844879_n.jpg

ok guy, finish for now, tomorow i will do the wiring connection between the strip and those 2 illumi meshteck pcb: https://eu.mouser.com/new/ilumi/ilumi-meshtek-controller/
with those baby i will be able to drive 4 channels with the same driver for each pcb:
so i will seperate like this:
1st illumi meshteck pcb with 600w meanwell driver for the 10 strip "white" nichia 2k&5k

channel 1: all the nichia 757 optisolis 5k from the structure 1
channel 2 : all the nichia 757 @2k from the structure 1
Channel 3: all the nichia 757 optisolis 5k from the structure 2
channel 4 : all the nichia 757 @2k from the structure 2

2nd illumi meshteck pcb with 240w meanwell driver for the 10 strip with xqe and xd16

Channel 1: all the cree xqe 730nm from the structure 1
Channel 2 all the cree xd16@ 3500k from the structure 1
Channel 3: all the cree xqe 730nm from the structure 2
Channel 4 all the cree xd16@ 3500k from the structure 2

will be able to driver each structure indepently
147673405_859300311581582_2765472325639768543_n.png

to finish out, we will have 2 set of buddies from LED Teknik https://www.instagram.com/led_teknik/?hl=fr : 2 set of 4k high cri + 2 set of PCRED :D https://growlightsaustralia.com/product/buddies/
will see if i put them on side or/and under the canopee

Buddies660nm.jpeg

ok guyz, i know its a tricky thread, i will understand if you find that....too much, just tell me and ill stop it,
hope you took some pleasure, next time ill post the electrical part, it will be messy, i never did that in my life, then the first light test, cant wait to close this thread and make and other witch will finaly speak about growing!!!!!

have a great day/night everybody.
Lady and Gentleman, it was the Grisbi Shooow :D

FUCK YEAH!!!

The sheathing for the wiring and the junction boxes really brought a clean look. Any idea of the overall weight? Overall how much did you spend? You really built a 'final' light, it really looks amazing.

Welight from Cutter messaged me about new 560mm UVA strips in 365/380/400 they've released *wink* *wink*

thank you sir!!!
yes its looks nice, but not perfect :) but im too lazy to do better
for the weight , i have no idea, will tell you that soon, i will deport the drivers outside of the grow space.
for the price....like said john hammond in jurassic park

"Spares No Expense" yahahahaha

would love to see those new uv led strip, not really conviced about uv led at the moment, but if welight want to send me some to try, i will try them with pleasure ahahahahaha ;)
i will take the migro uv bulb i think https://www.migrolight.com/product/migro-uvb-310/
im happy that you like my retro "matrix" style led structure :D

cant wait to do electrical part tomorow and par testing next after

I was speaking with Teknik, who claims he sees equal benefits from the 400nm range as UVA/UVB. I'm willing to try the 390nm, $23 per strip at 30w per strip. I'd like to add them from seed to harvest rather than the way the bulbs can only be ran for a few hours.

You really did spare no expense but it's all to your benefit in the long run.

hello @damien50 thank you for the advise dude, do you have a link for those strip you are talking to?
would love to see that, i totaly agree with you, would love to provide uv for seed to harvest, in real life plant are use to, i dont know why they recommand using it only for couple hour/day

They are really intense as bulbs. I know that 6% UVB bulbs can be ran for 12/12 I believe most others are stronger.

Hello everybody!!
hope everybody is good and safe :D
lets go with some music to start well

Context:
I already told you l that i had thoses strip since 2 years, i wanted to do it but i had some issue with my appartement,
AND also this stuff i juste remembered today and make me loose 5h of work:

Cutter made mistake on theire website for the channel assignation :/ : as you can see:
Capture d’écran 2021-03-16 à 12.53.20.png
Capture d’écran 2021-03-16 à 12.53.34.png

Capture d’écran 2021-03-16 à 15.55.28.png

On their website it written Channel 1 : 3030 led ( nichia 757 on my case) 48v
Channel 2: 3030 led ( nichia 757 ) 48 v
Channel 3: cree xqe /xd16 26-28v

ok, you're still there ?
in order to do that, i did a test 2 year ago with meanwell driver 48v 600W connected to 10 strip, 5 of them was the nichia 5k + cree xqe. and 5 other the nichia 2K + creexd16
when a put on the 600w driver, the channel 1 white nichia was on but the 2nd channel made a crispy light on/on/off/on/off and stayed off... and the 3rd channel stayed off
i directly understood that this FREAKING Channel 2 wasnt 48v nichia but my cree xqe 29v.....

so i rewired everything well, and everything was working but the creexqe anymore .... i guess the creexqe must have burned
i dont why the cree xd16 didnt burned as well, maybee they can handle more.
That day i lost 5 solstrip....
After that i spoke about that huge probleme of comunication witch may put people doing crazy mistake.
they propose me, to change me the strip , but mark asked me to send him first the damaged strips to fix them..
I could do that because my ledstrip mare stick with heatsink so bad with this fraking thermal tape, impossible to put them off without breaking them....so if i had to send them to australia with heatsink.s...would cost me too much money... i spent already enought.... so i had to keep them
was reallyyyy piss off and gave up....
UNTILLLLL TODAY :

if i told you that my friend, its for one reason:

i plugged everything following again the cutter website....and you know what???!!!
i repeat myself like a bot.
they didnt change this FRAAAKING mistake on theire website.... still there , even after 2 years....
so i asked mark riley cutter's boss) to tell me exactly about channels and voltage to be sure ( 2 years spent i didnt remembered)....and told him for his mistake and told him also that its quite inacceptable....
mark confirmed me:
CHANNEL 2 IS COLORED LED XQE OR CREEXD 16 , i repeat CHANNEL 2 IS COLORED LED XQE OR CREEXD 16
So after 5 hours guyz, we are on the same point, just have to know witch one is 2second channe wire and will use this time to make it better and cleanner design than before.
lets go:

Red is for Channel 2 positiv +( cree xqe /cree xd16)
Blue is for Channel 2 negativ -(cree xqe/ cree xd16)
161168840_263154768805668_6997824398681546507_n.jpg

i decide to put some Heat shink tubbing to prevent so water splash ( i know its useless, but i fell better ok!)

161011593_221969906285775_7303325218194415201_n.jpg

lets put off the sleeve and restart for cleaner and definitiv design, the naked baby monster:

after :

lets pull back the matrix style sleeve and try to my best for manage everything well, their is some led enthousiathic porno pics:

Im finishing actualy the Two junction box, im gonna try to make it looks nice, but i have 0 electrical knowledge , so we are all gonna laught about my work....but it will work, and im really aware of all your positiv advise for that part.
im gonna use mainly wago .
no worry, next time its SHOOOOWTIME:
we finish the junction box, creating junction box for the 2 illumi pcb and we are good to par test my dudodinos!!!

thank you guyz, so long to write properly this kind of diary, and im a messy dude....require for me a ton of energy :d
hope you a good day/night, stay safe.

HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!!

hello guyz, i finished up the wiring , not clean at all just for try if everything is alright,
i just need to solder 2 wire in the illumi pcb but i could be able to do that ....
first let me explain to you:
this is the link of the illumi manual:
https://www.mouser.com/datasheet/2/...4_Channel_PWM_Horticultural_SLC_U-1625647.pdf
this is the illumi meshtek pcb :
Capture d’écran 2021-03-18 à 17.12.19.png

and its says:
"*Remove Jumper J3 to increase the LED+ range to 60V. **If J3 is removed, then external power needs to be applied to AUX+ and AUX- to power the board. Stresses beyond those listed under Absolute Maximum Ratings may cause permanent or partial damage to the device. Exposure to absolute-maximum-rated conditions for extended periods may affect device reliability."

ok, i removed the J3 jumper to increase the led+ range to 60v ( its perfect my nichia strip channel are 48v)

theennn, "external power needs to be applied to AUX+ and AUX- to power the board"

and guy , i didnt manage to putt off the solder wire past that was already on aux- and +
show you the picture

162195282_766778587279677_4664244302758657353_n.jpg

i tryed with reflow station and with a brand new soldering iron at max temperature and those fuking soldering drop iron past on aux- and + didnt wanted to melt....
i dont know what to do guyz.... i already lost patience and broke one of my 3 pcb.... i cannot loose one again or my project is over.... so fucking anoying , frustrating....
If someone can help me , what is the problem?
161959099_487383329306923_6487126021909913700_n.jpg

Hello guyz,
i finaly was able to connect my illumi meshtek that allow to use ONE driver on 4 different channel.
unfortunatly....this pcb is buggy as hell :/
i was able to control and tune the 4 channel but Impossible to make scheddules.....
Fucking drama... i tryed the second identical pcb i had .... same problem.... the software is so bad.... ILLUMI made a very bad software....laggy , buggy everywhere....sometime impossible to pair your pcb, i followed precisly instructions but the schedulling never worked....

I decide to try the second version of the illumi pcb i had, this version allow you to connect 4 different drivers with 4 channel.
1 channel/ 1 driver.
And you know what....same shitty problem
i connect everything well, was hard to pair this pcb with my phone
165593237_489906155377640_1043398105654544609_n.jpg

i was able to manage power for the channel but the scheduling was buddy and never worked....
i made research and same problem with people on youtube:

was satisfy to see the led on action:

fuck illumi ( sorry its free, but im pissed off so bad) : 0 help / 0 support / total bugy pcb ....do not waste your money on it.... i dont understand why cutter is selling this shit :/
165026342_139908224722796_129484275975049978_n.jpg

i lost so many hours connecting the first pcb.... then the second one ( each time , had to change lot of connections...)

For now guys... im stuck...
i have 2 solutions:

1: i make a dimmer box connected with the drivers, and drivers connected to strip. and will use a traditional timer or connected plug :'( :'(

2: waiting for a nice LED controller dimmer like Crescience led compagny is gonna make, but ill have to wait couple of weeks :/ :'( :
Capture d’écran 2021-03-27 à 17.36.41.png

3: SOMEONE KNOW A NICE LEDCONTROLLER able to manage 4 channels ????????????
i desesparatly need a nice solution to control my driver without a crappy plug timer or connected plug

for the info , theire is the drivers i used
240w = 6 x strip nichia 5k optisolis
200w = 4 strip nichia 2K
150w = 4 strip cree xd16 @ 3500k
96w = 4 strip cree xqe 660/730

165791891_488300985868952_6538378883385082138_n.jpg

do you know also what is the use of the Vprg wire from the inventronics driver?

have a good day/night,
sorry for the boring thread, long is the road for the dream.... im a little bit desesperate to find a nice led controller :'( :'(

Have you considered a DMX controller? Control gets expensive. Looking at the Trolmaster system you can connect different channels but it's expensive

update is coming soon guyz :D
crescience controle works so fine, able to control, schedule my 5 led channel + ac fan / pc fan + humidifier + ON/off Uv migro :D waiting for my fast lock connector to show you the final step :D
amazing led controller/grow automatisation
picture are coming as well
have a good year :D

Hello guyz!!
hope eveyone is good?
put some nice music and lets go:

i receiv an amazing led conttrol ( 4 channel + 2 channel pwn ) witch can aslo control lot of stuff and got co2/ rh /temp sensor!
the sofware/hub is working good and the devoleppers still working on it.
its call cresControl , i invit you to check the possibility that can handle this wonder build buy Crescience ( love their led pcb design and quality) , they are from germany and they've been very kind to help me configure my setup!
this is the crescontrol :
Capture d’écran 2022-01-29 à 22.51.00.png

and i finaly receiv my fast lock connector :):
will be able to connect the 2 light together with a plug and play way and cleaner:

gonna need to solder wire from drivers and strips into it...
before that lets (try) to make some cable management:

from that : omg :D ( first time ever i touch electrical stuff ^^)
272330530_1927952260723056_8533400264184193698_n.jpeg
