Final final entry seed robustness

I apologize for another final entry (not really). But I have more information to impart!

I was worried about how much I would weaken genetics after creating feminized seeds from a strain that I would think has already been pushed as far as possible. The only premium auto seeds I've ever grown are from Mephisto. I've noticed in the past their seedlings aren't usually as robust as a lot of landraces and IBL strains I've grown. Of course - when you breed a strain to perfection for one purpose, you almost always have to give something up.

I buy more seeds from Mephisto than any other breeder (by a wide margin). I love their genetics! So I ain't complainin'.

If you've been following this log, you know that I started with five, culled to three, reversed one female and used her to fertilize the other two. I was not planning to keep any selfed seeds from the reversed female, who created a lot of pollen but not one single bud that could be fertilized. (I think that's pretty awesome!) So it turns out that she didn't give me a choice! :deadhorse:

Well, I'm happy to announce, my time was not wasted. I was wasted after creating hash from the leftover buds, however.

I planted several seeds and 80% popped. I put all the seeds in a single 1-gallon pot just to see how they would grow. The first one to sprout gets to live. I've been yanking the others after a couple of days. Two more seeds came up last night!

Even the seeds that "didn't sprout" eventually came up. I got close to 100% (sorry I'm not exactly sure). And after a week or so, they're just as happy and healthy as any other auto I've grown.

So I have a lifetime supply of Double Grape seeds and the confidence to start on the next project, which is a seed-chucking project I plan to start in the next couple of months. I actually already started phase one but I'll log the next phases.

Because I have to upload an image, I'll leave you with this:
