DWC First Timer - Day 21 - RQS Fat Banana Automatic & Diesel Automatic

Good day all,

Another week down! Thanks to @derek420colorado & @MissUniverse for the excellent, detailed guidance! Growth has been steady and at approx day 18 I've seen both girls picking up speed.

26th August: Filled my separate 80 litre res with 50 litres tap water. 400ppm, 9.3 ph from source. Bubble 24 hours.

27th August: Ph measured at 8.7. ***DISCLAIMER*** APOLOGIES IN ADVANCE TO THE MASTERS - PH down added first to bring down to a base value of 6.5. Bubble overnight.

28th August: Added 1/3 strength Advanced Nutrients Ph Perfect Micro, Grow & Bloom. Bubbled for an hour or so. Solution was 425ppm and Ph at 6.5. Happy to see it stable. Changed the res solution.

29th August: Measured solution today - 400ppm, 6.7ph, 67f solution temp.

Other Grow notes:

- Tent temp is 72-76f
- Average solution temps are at 66-72f
- Noticed drooping on the banana and later in the week same with the diesel.
- Bushy growth on the banana, very stocky and short internodes.
- Vigorous root growth, slight discolouring near pot.
- Bubbling solution dropped to 2 inches below bottom of net pots.
- Slight wind burn. Moved fan.
- Some spots on lower leaves.

Any comments very welcome.

Seems decent to me. I'll elaborate a bit on what I see here on your messages. I'll use an asterisk under your -
- Tent temp is 72-76f
*perfect
- Average solution temps are at 66-72f
*great
- Noticed drooping on the banana and later in the week same with the diesel.
*could be normal, but check your ph more often and adjust to closer to 5.8-5.9. (I ph to 5.9). Possibly calmag. You might need supplemental calmag
- Bushy growth on the banana, very stocky and short internodes.
*how far is the distance of the light from the plant? It might need to be moved up already. DWC gets bushy fast, leaf tuck early to get the aide shoots going. Check how sativa vs indica the plant is. Possibly cal mag
- Vigorous root growth, slight discolouring near pot.
*root growth =building for huge explosion in 2-3 weeks. Awesome. Slight discoloring near pots. Heat from black pot and from foil under plants. Discoloration screams to me calmag
- Bubbling solution dropped to 2 inches below bottom of net pots.
*normal dissipation and evaporation of water, as well as the plants drinking the solution. Wait till they get older, you'll be feeding them daily or more than that. I can feed up to 5 times a day with some
- Slight wind burn. Moved fan.
*happens to me and I cant always help it, happens with lights too, I cant change it myself. As long as you catch it you're good
- Some spots on lower leaves.
*possibly heat from the black pot, nutrient or cal mag

Oh a d check your nitrogen levels, they might be off, look at the crinkly and ultra lush new growth, it looks almost on the verge of nitrogen toxins while one leaf has a bit of burn while some of the older leaves are a bit more yellow, seems a slight nute imbalance. I get that a lot and I learned with dwc I always start with a bit of a bloom fert in there at 1/8th of the solution mix. Say the solution calls for 8 teaspoons of grow solution, I will put 7 of grow, and if it would be the same ratio for bloom nutrients, I would substitute the last part with bloom nutrients at this point for more potassium and phosphorus

Great feedback thanks. With the Advanced Nute 3 part the instructions are to mix equal parts of micro, grow, bloom throughout the whole grow, increasing dosage as the plant develops. That’s what I’ve been doing so maybe some adjustments now that we are a few weeks in.

Yeah adjustments may be needed just be careful I found 3 part nutrients harder in dwc than 2 part but I ended up doing just fine as you saw just be careful as well to not overfeeding either but maybe an ever so slight bump making sure not to raise your nitrogen level

A little step at a time with close monitoring.

I don’t have any calmag. Actually haven’t considered why I might even need it. Rookie error I’m sure!

Calmag is vital to plant life of all plants. Without it a plant cant photosynthesize nor even uptake the nutrients right. If you dont get it calmag now, it will, along with ph above 6.2, kill the plant due to a lack of the nutrient. Micro nutrients never gave me the proper balance of calmag to the other nutrients needed and I always have to supplement with calmag.

Theres a really good article on growweedeasy a few vital nutrients for cannabis plants, not sure if you've read it but I even go back to it here and there for reference https://www.growweedeasy.com/common-nutrient-problems
