Day 1

Just got my seeds in the mail today. Chose to start with humbolt caramel cream as my blog stated. Supposed to be very resistant and good for a newbie grower which is me

Starting with 1 at a time or maybe just one this grow and will do 2 after if this one goes well.

Ac infinity everything for the tent, 3x3x6 tent, 400w driver with a quantum board and samsung 301b diodes. 6in inline w/ 6in xl filter. Running fox farm ocean forest soil. Fox farm nutes in a few weeks. I know the ph on ocean forest is slightly high thats why shes not getting fed the first 2 weeks.

Temp is 77.9-79°F. RH is hovering right around 50% with a +/- 5% fluxuation. Running a cheap cold mist humidifier ourside in room (rh was in the low to mid 40s during test run) as well as a humidity dome because its in the basement I wanted to boost the room as well as the pot for germination and will probably cut back on the humidity after my first couple nodes develop. Dome is getting taken off as soon as the first set of leaves grow in and the second node starts forming.

Will try uploading as much as possible. Glad to have everyone here with me on my journey

Heck yeah. I loved the autos of it I grew. Very uniform. All 5 autos looked and tasted the same. I cant wait to see what your photo does. It's very pretty flower also. The darker colors that form in the buds and leaves almost leaves it looking purple ish. But it's not actually purple. It's just a little darker colors so it almost looks purplish. People like my fam and friends loved how she looks and smokes. Stone is more sativa than indica to me. I get more of a head buzz than body buzz myself but that could just have been when I harvested them. I have had no complaints from anyone that smoked this strain. It gets me high every day and my tolerance hasn't left like some strains can do. Can't wait to follow your photo of caramel cream. I loved the autos. Very nice fat buds as well. By far better than Gelato Auto or Purple Punch Auto I grew from Fast Buds the same grow. They weren't bad but a few days after smoking tolerance went out the window and I couldn't get high anymore. I keep going back to the caramel cream and get ripped every joint. I prefer it in a joint or blunt for my best experience.

Omfg thank you, ive been looking for input on this strain because its so new from humbolt. Its day 3 and still nothing, soils starting to really dry out on top though but about an inch under its still perfectly hydrated so Im wondering if I should give it a little water tomorrow or tuesday.
Im not familiar with autos and until I nail photoperiod well Im not gonna try quite yet. If I fuck it up I have no time to recover before it starts flowering. Im hoping to get at least a qp from this one and my next is going to be a humbolt nutter butter.
I like more heady type highs too. I prefer indicas but I don't like getting tired after smoking so Im looking for more good 50/50 hybrids or even up to 70/30 sativa/indicas. I just dont want something thats gonna shoot up too high during flower, in my 6ft tent I only have 4.5 feet of grow space and even that is pushing it. During flower I want my light on the full 400w and will be introducing extra co2 to help expedite photosynthesis. Probably a couple weeks before I switch to 12/12 actually.
Im gonna need help training it though, I wanna try to maximize the canopy and use every square inch of my tent so Im probably gonna top it 2 or 3 times. I do want 1 massive cola but Im looking for quantity more than quality per say, right now. Obviously I wanna get fried but Im taking a tolerance break till my first harvest to maximize my yield and be able to smoke while I grow my next batch.
Contemplating doing 1 of each though, plus I got digital genetics black d.o.g. freebies so Im interested in seeing what thats about. Also photos

I run both photos and autos depending on the run.
Hey. Question, with those caramel cream autos you ran, hiw long did germination take, i know im only 5 days in but Im wondering if everyone was right about my fox farm ocean forest being a little too hot for starting seeds. Im gonna wait till saturday or sunday night, if theres nothing there, i might start over. Wondering if 9-10 days is a long enough wait to do so as well

Every strain is different. Depends how deep you planted the seeds. They can usually take anywhere from 3 to 10 days. Patience is a virtue. Happy Frog won't burn your babies. Your good to go. Lots of people plant directly in happy frog with great results.

Im using ocean forest tho...lol...and it looks like I went a little deeper than I thought shes growing tho

I covered her back up lightly looks like i went about 3 inches deep instead of the 1-2 i thought

I'd let them go and see what happens. If they're really slow and stunted then you have a problem. There slow to start off anyways. But if she grows slower than normal and look funky I would then restart them. I wouldn't waste seeds tho. I'd try to grow em as is especially if there sprouting. When I plant seeds I use my pinky finger to make a small hole for the seed. I only go down til my fingernail, the furthest I'll go down is to my first knuckle so like an inch at the deepest. when I water I water gently so I don't move the seed with heavy water force. when there established I start watering like normal.. If they give you problems you know for next run to plant in a lighter mix soil. I use biobizz light mix to plant young plants in. Its got enough nutrients to feed a young plant for 2 weeks. It will never burn a plant either. Happy frog will also work for planting in. Go with whatever is cheaper I say.

Ill probably do a mix next time. The ph is perfect in ocean forest, but thats for a plant thats already been growing, i think from now on ill do a 50/50 mix if I germ in the 5gals or I might just solo cup it in 100% light warrior. That way there's increased drainage and it only comes dry so I can control the water, also with the mycorrhizae it might help develop a new root system better

I always use recharge starting off the first watering for my myco and bennies. They seem to love it. Then once a week they get recharge from there. I been thinking of tryin the dyno myco for starting seeds also to see if it helps any more than just recharge. Maybe do an experiment recharge vs dyno myco

Lemme know how it goes, im going to try germination a little different in the future, I got 4 extra caramel cream seeds so Im gonna germ the 3 remaining extras in different ways to see what works best for me. Ill probably do 1 in paper towel, 1 in a seed starting mix with myco like light warrior in a solo cup, and another in a 50/50 mix of happy frog or the remaining ocean forest I have and light warrior. We'll see

Hey I forgot to ask you, what do you mean by recharge, are you talking about recharged soil?

My baby is bouncing back pretty well, 6 hours after uncovering to she if she got burned by my FFOF she is turning a healthy green and cotyledon are starting to fan out and its first set of main leaves are starting to come in.

Im so happy and this gives me a boost of confidence that the premature looking seeds I have will germinate for future grows. Ive decided that after this run I will be running 2. I know its at least 4 months off right now, but Im loving this

Update about tent and soil conditions

Soil is dry on top but still very wet underneath but is definitely drying out slowly.
Ph of the soil right now has gone up without watering at all. My soil meter is saying about 6.8 to 7 depending on where I test. 1 spot in the back of my pot is reading about 7.3.
If the alkilinity keeps climing I will be adding ph down to my first watering in about 3 or 4 days. It will probably be a half dose as I do not wanna overdo it. Id rather lower it by .5 than a whole point all around.

Ambient air temps are in the high 70s usually hovering right around 77.5°F which I think is perfect

Rh is constantly fluctuating. During the course of the day it can vary heavily averaging around 62% RH, but dropped to almost 47% for a couple hours today.
I turned off my cold mist humidifier today as I believe raising the overall humidity in the room is causing the pot to dry out slower. I also increased the inline fan speed to about 70% power instead of 50% to help pull some of the moisture out of the air that evaps from the soil. After turning the humidifier off a few hours ago the rh has started to calm down a bit and is hovering inside the 50-60% range.

While Im not worried about rate of growth as much right now my controller is calculating the vpd to be around 1.4 to 1.5kPa. Hoping turning off the humidifier will help lower that a bit even though I dont even have a full set of leaves yet.

Hey I forgot to ask you, what do you mean by recharge, are you talking about recharged soil?
It's a product. real growers recharge it's called. You make a tea with it and feed it once weekly to plants. Prevents root rot and can fix root rot. Keeps the soil replenished with microbes. Its just beneficial bacteria and fungi with some added goodies like kelp and also molasses to feed to the microbes.

I recommend the paper towel method for germination. After they grow a nice taproot then I sow my seeds.
