I have much to report on. Yesterday, it looked possible that I had successfully reversed the chosen daddy. Today I was rewarded with proof! Every cola has a plethora of male flowers ready to burst and commit their act of unnatural love on the virginal future mothers.
The Optic II is simply unable to provide enough light for both plants (I think it would do ok if I was using a tent). So I also decided to use it for the best mother but performed training on both of them. Using nylon string I pulled all the tall colas down to make an even canopy and even used the chiropractic technique on a couple of stems. If you zoom in on the picture, you should be able to see how I anchored the strings on the bottom. I have tried a lot of different things, and this is the best way for me because it's easy to do and very easy to adjust.
I moved my favorite girl under the good light, and dragged out a 110 watt Giixer I got from Amazon for $60 last year, for the other one. It did better than expected for the chile plant I used it on last year and I've also been using it to veg out other cannabis seedlings as a second light in the veg tent.
Here's how my setup looks now:
You can't see it in the picture but I placed a fan to the left of the daddy to blow "his" pollen onto the mothers as it gets released. Don't tell him, but after I see seeds forming I'll be removing him a'la Logan's Run.
I hope I can save enough on seeds to pay more for gas.
