Light from passive air flow

Since my grow tent is in a place where I have light when the plants are in the dark period and no matter what flap configuration I use I still have light coming in.

On the beginning I didn’t care too much and just ripped a txirt in half and used it as a long coat and it worked but today DIY’ed a little more and used a kitchen filter, some staples, the same txirt and made a perfect joker :cools: fit.

Nows let’s C if it works and if it won’t restrict the air flow 2much.
1st signs should be increasing temp and hum and extra neg pressure right?

What other solutions u guys found?

Having the same issue my self, but the other way around. Mrs is complaining about light coming out. I think, not know, that with autos you can get away with a little light without problems? Other people in the know should have an answer.
I do know that with passive ventilation air takes the easiest route, so any restriction will greatly reduce air flow. Even an open door will effect it..i.e big open door to go out or a 4-6 inch hole. Most of the air flow will be directed towards door and into hall or similar. Thats why folks add exhaust fans to create a negative atmosphere in the tent encouraging air to be drawn in from the room the intake vent is in.

Light leaks are not an issue with autos. I always have a photo growing with my autos and though my passive tent vents bleed ambient light, still no problem...An inkbird controls intake and exhaust fans to keep parameters in spec. Exhaust is on full time with intake alternating between outside ambient air & inside passive per temperature control. Kinda makes my tent automatic...just have to feed .

Exactly what I did with the extract, 4inch into a 90 small straight of pipe into another 90 into void above space that has a vent. Planning on a 90in into a 45 then out. Also gonna take mylar off floor so passive air form through floor boards helps with air changes. Good luck.

Ty m8, so autos don’t get light stress from this small leakages? Was covering every single hole along side the equipments indications lights to give them the least stress possible.

My tent is set up on my balcony(marquise) so I don’t have 2much control of the intake and the winter is coming :biggrin:

Set up the diy kitchen filter in one of the intake vents and the other remains just with a “long coat”, trying to keep my eye on the temps and hum to see any change, always had a good negative pressure so a change there will be hard to spot for me.

will let this run for a couple more days and keep vigilant

my original diy was for the light that was coming out, I run the lights at night and on my street if you looked up, it was unmistakably a red flag since I’m in prohibition land :redcard: and the 1st diy resolved both issues, no lights coming out at night and no light coming in during the day and the restriction was minimal since it was just strapped on the top of the flap.

still have the other passive like this and I don’t know if I’ll go back or forward with this “upgrade”
