First grow - indoor 8 x automazar

Hey guys

I've thoroughly done research on growing and this is my first venture and I do hope you can join and most likely help/teach me along the way.

I am currently growing AutoMazar from Dutch Passion, I have read alot of reviews of the strain and growing diaries and I thought it would be a great strain to begin my new hobby.

I have chosen to go with Biobizz as it is a well known brand to use, especially for first timers.

Medium - BioBizz light mix / extra perlite

Food - biobizz grow / bloom / top max and Alg a mic.

I also have epsom salts and magne-cal aside if any defs arise. I germinated 9 autos and 8 were successful and sprouted.

Lighting - I am running 600watt hps, although it has adjustment 250 - 400 - 600. Currently I'm set on 250watt. I'm running 24/0.

Temps vary between 23 - 26.5 °c
Humidity vary between 60-70%

The tent is 120 x 120 x 200cm

They are all in 11l pots.

my story so far.....

its day 11 and I havent fed any nutrients yet just PH water.

2 in the brown pots are 2 days behind the others as it took longer to germinate. Although they do seem a little slower than the others for some reason.

Pics from today ....day 12 since sprouting.

I have tried to do some "lst" on two of them but not sure if I have done it right. Any advice? Too early?

Thanks guys

Let me know what you think.

I love the detail in your write up @Jdawggreen. Everything sounds good to me with my limited knowledge and experience. I typically wait until the main growth tip can reach the edge of the pot before I start my LST, I like my main stem to have at least 4 secondary branches, so they start growing vertical as soon as I pull her over, like THIS. No proven science, just what I do based on what feels right to me. Good luck friend, I'll be following along. Looking forward to see how it goes. Ive wondered about that DP Auto Mazar myself.

I dont use a lot of bottled nutrients, so hopefully someone more knowledgable will chime in, but I suspect a lot of people start feeding between 7-14 days.

The Bio-biz grows end up in the infirmary often. It has a steep learning curve that new growers miss just do to a lack of experience. The first thing I recommend is do not mix nutrients from other vendors and use everything on the Bio-biz chart. They spend thousands of dollars developing nutrients that work together. One of the most important things to learn in nutrient application is to always add balanced nutrients to the grow - never add a single nutrient. This will throw the balance out of whack. Aerate your water at least overnight then mix the nutrients according to Bio-biz instructions. The order added to the mixture is important. If you do not already have them you need a good EC Pen, PH pen and soil probe. Do not buy cheap ones they do not work.

What you need to learn about watering will come with practice. Here are the basic rules: Never let the soil dry out. Soil and or coco can become hydrophobic if allowed to dry. This means it repels water. This in turn will create dry pockets in the soil and roots there will die. If your soil - coco have accidentally dried out use a surfactant to help re-wet it. I like yucca powder. Don't let soil remain soggy by watering too much too often. Root rot, damping off, molds, fungus gnats and other problems start in soggy soil. When you do water water the entire pot. How to learn when to water starts before you plant the seed. Fill your container with fresh soil/coco and weigh it (heft it) this is the lightest weight and consider it a dry pot. Now slowly water until the soil/coco will no longer absorb the water and run-off begins; weigh the pot (heft it) this is the maximum water, the wettest the pot can get. The difference between wettest and driest is the maximum water weight, for ease of explanation lets just say the water weighs 20 pounds. When the pot loses 10 pounds (half of the water weight) it is time to water again. There is an art to watering.

To learn more about balanced nutrients look up Liebig's Law of the Minimum.

Heres a little update at day 14.

2 in the brown pots are on day 11 or 12.

First attempt at LST.

If you guys have any pointers or suggestions that would be great.

Update - day number 21 in fabric pots and day number 18 in brown pots.

Since increasing lights to 400w, I've struggled to keep my temperature low. Its been averaging around 27.5°c. I know this is a little too high but in hoping this strain can handle slightly higher temperatures. There has been slight heat stress but that was mainly caused by light being too close. I forgot to raise the light after increasing wattage.

Humidity im keeping between 60-70%.

Feeding : I've given 3 feeds this week,

1st - 0.5ml per litre of grow
1ml per ltre of alg a mic.

2nd - 1ml per litre of grow
1ml per litre of alg a mic

3rd - 1ml grow
1ml alg a mic

At the beginning of the week I suspected a magnesium deficiency so I made up some epsom salts as a foliar - 1/2 tablespoon per litre of water. Turned lights off for 4hrs for this.

These were on older leafs....no signs of deficiencies on any new leafs.

At what stage should I stop training and let grow vertical?

Some photos today.

The past few days I've been using LST for first time on the girls. I'm just going with the flow (winging it). If anyone has suggestions/tips please do share. Can I defoliate at this point or should I wait until flower?

Do you guys think that I should decrease the lights back to 250w so that reduces the temp or keep as is and hope no heat stress occurs?

What do you guys think? Are they looking alright at this stage? This is my first ever grow so it would be great to see what you think.
