Being a ninja is hard. Sometimes after a long day of work doing general ninja tasks, I like to spark a fatty hooter and brush my luscious ginger beard. Contrary to popular belief, ninja wages aren't as good as they used to be, and Southern California retail smoke is just too damn expensive.
Thus, the journey begins.
I've done a ton of research. I've spent some money in places I shouldn't have. I've ruthlessly murdered 5 seeds, still in the womb. I've learned some lessons already. Hopefully my failures can prevent another's.
THE QUEST:
Girl scout cookies extreme Autoflower from Ilovegrowingmarijuana.com
MY NINJA DOJO:
Vivosun 4x4 tent inside a 20x10 bedroom
Southern California
MY NINJA GEAR:
Medium:
1:1:1 black magic potting soil, jiffy seedling starter mix, perlite
Slurry test @270 ppm pH 6.5
3 gal fabric pots
Lighting:
Was given a 1000w HPS bulb, hood and magnetic ballast. I like the earth and also not paying ridiculous electric bills, so I'm keeping them around as backup only. I decided to invest most of my start up money on the lights, after much consideration and anxiety. I went with this.
4x 55w Autocobs from cobshop.net
Cheapo 45w actual 5500k led shop light (using for seedlings until my cobs come in)
4x forgotten 60w 6500k cfl bulbs that I have laying around.
Circulation/Cooling/Humidity:
Vivosun 6in carbon filter
AC Infinity cloudline t6 fan
Passive intake
Will draw and exhaust into the same room. Unfortunately cant exhaust outside.
Room has window AC
Food/Water:
RO water (main source)
Distilled water (just for slurry tests really)
pH up and down
GH CalMag+
CloneX solution
Advanced nutrients Connoisseur base nutes 2 part veg and 2 part flower (gifted)
Botanicare pure blend pro veg nutes (gifted)
Botanicare hydroplex bloom supplement 0-10-6
Mad Farmers MOAB (gifted)
Bag of earthworm castings
Intruments and whatnot:
Milwaukee pH600 pH meter
7.0 and 4.0 buffer solution
Milwaukee pH storage solution
Cheapo non branded TDS meter (seems at least ballpark accurate, if not spot on)
Ton o' buckets
Cheapo 3 way probe meter
Miscellaneous Ninja Skillz
A couple lessons I've learned so far:
Know your medium. What you put your seed in changes everything.
Buy decent instruments. Cheap pH meter is 10 bucks. Decent one is 30-40. The 20 bucks will save you so much anxiety about wondering if your readings are correct.
Don't Google "how to grow marijuana". A lot of the information out there is useless. Everyone has different opinions. It's overwhelming. Find a community, read some journals, put on some Bob Seger and relax. You'll figure it out.
Right now I have 3 seeds in the dirt. 2 have broken soil. Ill go into my germ process (and failures) and snap some photos and post up within the next couple days. I'll do my best to keep this journal updated a few times a week.
I'm open to all comments, advice and criticism
