12/27/2021:
Started two 20gal pots with about 16-17 gallons of BAS 3.0 soil in each. Put a few worms in each pot and watered ~1.5 gals with wetting agent and microbes. Added cover crop, craft blend, and bokashi with mulch. BB#3 on the left, Canna Cheese on the right. Here we go!
Edit: BB#3...
Figured out that VPD issues were causing the leaf problems. Way too dry vs hot tent temps ranging from 74-84f.
Chopped the CC 1.5 weeks ago at Day 70. Had to chop it early due to excessive nanners, but the majority of trichomes were cloudy with red receded pistils. Some visible immature seeds...
Day 47 for toof decay (left), day 54 for canna cheese (right). Plain water and wetting agent for both.
TD has been happy and exploded during stretch - now in flower mode. It responded very well to LST and will need some light defoliation soon.
CC is maturing quickly - started flowering early...
Still watering with just plain water & wetting agent - ph 6.2-6.5.
Day 33 Toof Decay is doing great. Still stretching with new pistils popping up daily. Was going to let it go naturally, but decided to bend the main cola down and do some LST to spread it out. Hoping for a nice even canopy...
Day 31 & 38. Had an extraordinarily hot winter day… the CC sprouted 2 nanners overnight. Plucked em and letting it go… no signs of any others so far. TD is stretching!
Day 33 for CC (right) and day 26 for TD (left). Fixed overwatering issues and the plants seem to be moving along well now. Fungus gnats are still around, but population has significantly dropped.
CC has started to grow past the N tox with new leaves at bud sites no longer clawing.
Day 28 for the Canna Cheese and day 21 for Toof Decay.
I’ve been dealing with a fungus gnat explosion due to overwatering. Still getting the hang of this. Let the pots dry out for 6 days and watered a small amount yesterday. Fungus gnat populations seem to be dwindling slowly.
CC reacted well...
I’m now thinking the Canna-Cheese is clawing due to overwatering. I’ve been watering both with the same volume - not sure if the CC is just more sensitive or what. Letting the containers dry out an extra day or two before watering to see if it helps.
Did neem oil/silica and em-5 foliar sprays...
Canna Cheese on the right is still showing some signs of nitrogen excess. The new growth is lightening up slowly and I think that is a good sign. Cut down cover crop today and sprinkled bokashi over to help break it down.
Hoping the CC grows out of the excess nitrogen soon. Haven’t fed or top...
Toof Decay showed up today! Canna Cheese is on day 5 and looks a bit dark. The second set of leaves coming out seem to be clawing too. I’m wondering if the soil is too hot? We’ll see how it goes…
I’ve just been giving plain water to keep the soil moist. Also added s. scimitus mites and sf...
Off to a slow start due to cold but the Canna Cheese sprouted on 1/2/22. BB3 seed was a dud, so Toof Decay was sown in its place on 1/3/22. Cover crop has started to sprout, and a few fungus gnats have appeared. I’ve been keeping the soil moist with about 32oz water per container every other...
