What are your preferred numbers of plants per m²? And can you tell me why?

Im planning to grow with a strong led light(around 650w, an overall pffd of 800 par) in a 1,2x1,2 tent, with some bigger sized Autos. To find the right number of plants for my setup I researched the Internet and got even more confused. My priority is a big yield but without to neglect quality. Nothing new.

I think I will use either 3 or 5 gallon Airpots, thats up to the numbers.

Depends exactly what youre growing. I have a blue dreamatic in a 5g fabric pot.. I could run around 4 or 6 under my cmh and get adequate penetration for a solid yield.
Otherwise even "large" indicas could be run 9 to 12 deep in my 4'x4'.
Due to the amount of watering required (and by extension, time) i choose to run under 10. That, and its when the charge upgrades to tier 2. 10 to 20 years.

It all depends on plant size, honestly. If it's a strain known for being "small", I'll do 4-5. If it's a strain with the potential to get big, I'll do 2. If it's a known monster, then I'll do one. I'm in a 4x4x8 tent, btw.

*edit* I should add that NOTHING in my tent winds up being "small", Due to my use of large pots, good nutes, and great lights. Still haven't hit the 1lb mark, though, but that largely falls on genetics.

Will hopefully make a diary about my first grow, but first I need to buy all those expensive components (perfectionism since day 1, for good or bad.. ;) )

If youre seeking perfection i suggest cmh lighting. Depending on plant number a 630 is my dream, but a 315 does my tent right.
Nutrients, i cant really speak on as im 100%dry organic amendments. Tho ive seen some good megacrop grows so im getting my sample in the mail today.

Most of the good components aren't "expensive" anymore.
...I mean, that depends on your budget, But most stuff required is pretty affordable now.

Well...I'm only on my second grow and both times have made the same mistake...too many plants at once.
I have a 36" x 36" x 70" tent and it's easy to over fill.
From now on, I'm going to grow one at a time.

You can pull of 3 to 4 in that as i did it. The key is air flow. 2 tower fans oscillating on low. 24/7. Prevents molds and such with the high humidity at night. (I shut off extraction with my light. Indicas 3 to 4 with topping. Or 2 sativa dominant with topping. I upgraded to a 4x4x6.5. I wanted more plants cuz im growing for 2. Heres 4 in that space.

So many variables, but probably the biggest one is how much hands on work do you want to do. More plants means more time crawling in and out of the tent feeding and watering. It's pretty easy when they are babies, but a dozen tall heavy mature plants is a lot of work when you're reaching in through a zipper.

The plants will somewhat take what you give them, as long as they have an abundance of resources they will fill the space. This has been the premise of the SCROG/SOG guys for years. Once again it depends on how much work you're willing to do.

Yeah thats true, luckily my Homebox tent has sidewindows that helps a little bit with that issue. Still as you said it will be more than enough work, but I want to go with atleast 8 plants, main reason for that is that I cant help it - I want to plant my favorite strains all together, I hope my greed wont end as a mistake ;)
