Plants are 22 days above ground. In big-box potting soil (Kellogg organic potting soil) + 30% perlite. Under HLG 600Rspec at lowest dimmer setting, 24” height, lux ~7200 (20/4). Temps low 70s; humidity 65-73 or so. Watered 5 days ago with 1/2tsp Recharge per gallon (pH 6.4, filtered tap water TDS 150). Have been checking dryness of upper soil/weight of bags and watered 500ml each again today, just before pic. Lower leaves seem to be yellowing, and some feel a bit dry (not quite crunchy). Are the plants telling me I waited too long to water? Time to start nutes? (I have FF trio, and read to use 1/4 strength starting around 3-4 weeks?). Something else wrong?

I will be spacing these plants out to a second 4x4 tent once (if!) they get bigger. Any suggestions appreciated as this is my first grow.

i don grow in soil i grow in ccoo but they look poorly i will tag a couple of he soil growers in as your media may be too hot @Mañ'O'Green @hope2grow @Fitzy @damien50

hopefully one of the soil growers can help you i would hate to steer you wrong as i know lots about coco
I appreciate that. This is my second set of seeds. The first round stunted from light being too intense (was at 25% dim/24”, but lux measured out 30,000 when I got my meter). I’m pretty nervous about these girls: they’ve made it further than the first group, but the last week or so just seem to be stalling out. Trying to dial everything in per “guidelines” but they just don’t seem to be thriving. Getting pretty anxious that I’m missing something big.

It seems that you went out and got great stuff to grow with and then Kinda an odd soil. I would guess it is a soil problem. You might have let them dry out to much as well. I personally would start over. I would pick a soil that is not loaded with organics if I was going to use the nutes you have chosen.

I haven’t used any nutes yet, though. Where I live, soil options are limited (alternative was extended release miracle grow). I’ve read extensively on soils, trying to understand what the issue could be so I could try to address it. It doesn’t seem “hot”, so would nutes be better earlier? pH going in is correct - should I water to runoff to see that pH? I thought runoff pH mattered more in coco than soil, so I haven’t checked that yet and am unsure what the ”target pH” would be.

Hard to tell, could be overwatering or could be too hot soil? But yet from the picture it also looks like you have a bunch of dry soil on top. It is important to keep the entire pot moist.

Watering is definitely a source of concern for me. By weight, the pot still has a good bit of water, but the top couple inches will get very dry. I’m trying to find a balance between these indicators. I’ve read reviews on soil moisture eaters, but they seem unreliable. Another use (on another post) suggested bottom watering - I will give this a try as moisture seems to be part of the issue.
