I am trying to catch up on soil and fertilizers for my first grow as I am still quite the noob. I am looking for simple solutions when it comes to nutrients and feeding schedules.

I found this;

BASIC CANNABIS SOIL RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

• 1 part vermiculite
• 1 part coco coir peat
• 2 parts compost
• ½–1 cup worm castings (or humus)

--------------------------------

Then later during the growth process add organic bat guano in the soil.

Is this a ok strategy for my first grow?

Cheers

I do not think so! Let me see if @Proph can give you a better approach.

@Bogge:welcome:Welcome to AFN:welcome: You are already miles ahead by asking before you start then when the plants are sick.

This recipe will work, if you know how to work it, lol. It's a basic organic foundation. With those base ingredients, you will need to feed the soil with micro biology to keep the nutrients cycling. This mix will work well as a base for an organic grow.

If you use bottled nutes then the medium or what you grow in, is far less important. Bottled nutrient lines feed the plant directly, and bypass the food sources in the soil.

Ok, since this is a base. Are there any other things I need to buy or have? Are bat guano considered micro biology? Every tips is gratefully accepted.

Edit: Maybe I should just keep the soil mix without the guano and just use tomato fertilizer?

It all depends on how you plant to feed the plant.. Organically, or with a nutrient line.. How do you plan on feeding the plant?

I dont know yet, I want the simplest and cheapest option available. I want to avoid having to deal with specific feeding schedules and stuff.

What do you recommend a total beginner?

My 2 cts.....I have an even simpler idea. Put Bio Bizz Light Mix in a pot of choice, moisten properly, plant seed, give it warmth and light. That's it. Nothing else needed. When ready for nutes in about 3 weeks, you'll have figured out what you need.
That's exactly my method for a perpetual grow....for 15 yrs. Can't get any more simple.

That sounds good! I can use only water for the first 3 weeks. Do you have any nutrients to recommend after that phase?

Sorry I am terribly novice at all of this. Learning something new everyday.
